It's a title win that actually mattered considering they said TNA guys would never make it to the WWE.
It’s not memorable in storyline sense. Look at the buildups for the Punk and DB wins. Eddie’s win was the ultimate underdog who triumphed over his demons success story.

Eddie and Benoit were transitional champions. Nothing else.

They were made champion as a reward for the hard work they put in their careers. That is the sad reality.

Casual fans began to tune out during this time period.

This also started the notion that anyone can be a world champion whereas previously only specific athletes were given the strap.

There is a reason why these two were midcard during the Attitude Era

From their era, the only fitting world champions (excluding HHH) were Cena, Batista and Orton

There was nothing fitting about a Blandy title run since they all been rejected and forced. And Batista only worked because fans ran to him after they initially botched the Blandy face turn to keep protecting Cripple H.
