I don’t think they tried to redeem him. Just show he wasn’t a monster. He just did monstrous things. Life isn’t black and white. My mom’s best friend’s son murdered his girlfriend. His child’s mother. He was like an older cousin to me. Same dude used to pick me up from work and give me money as a kid. Now he’s in jail on a 40 year sentence. His mom, my mom’s friend, probably doesn’t see a murderer when she looks at her son, even though that’s what he is....really no different than Bryce’s mom. And it’s weird for me to call him that when I knew a different version of him. I think with Bryce it was done pretty well. He tried to make amends but he had made his bed and sometimes after you make horrible choices like that you don’t get a do over. Bryce thought he could just throw money at the problem and make it go away. By the time you get to the last episode he realizes he’s a rapist and will always be a rapist and he’ll always be the guy that caused a girl to kill herself because he raped her. At that point it’s probably easier just to die because you’re never escaping that.

That's what i thought was the goal too...people act like rape is something only done by evil supervillains to pivot away from the societal implications.

first season clay I liked as he was like a awkward loser but was trying , second season he clearly has psychological issues that he needs help with and obsessed with a dead girl , they acted like he and not Zach should have a reason to be upset . He has zero qualities to attract a girl who isn’t a basket case
