Damn small clip was very telling. "I'm not stepping into that"....*sigh*. Can't even have an honest discussion about it, would prefer to flee from the discussion. To be fair most of those guys aren't American film makers so they don't have to respond to his question per say but damn.

saw the flick last tuesday and as suspected it was average at best.A lot of the praise is blinded by deep rooted agendas, whether it be white guilt or some misplaced black pride you know who you are..Ejofor for one shrank under the spotlight. dude was pretty good in dirty pretty things but this was too grand for him..He just didnt have the gravitas, screen presence or chops to be the guy to spearhead this project. That slave that sprinted off the ship to his master outshone him every time they shared the screen, you could hear the pain in his voice as he spoke and he looked like a battle weary captive..Fassbender and the female slave were easily the standouts here..And I dont want to hear anything about steve Mcqueen, his directing was nothing special...at all

ps how are we going to be in 2014 and only a hand full of slave movies have been made? non of which are even remotely close to goodbye/farwell uncle tom or roots WHICH WERE MADE IN THE 70S!!!

No, it hasn't. Young black actors just aren't getting roles. Taylor Kitsch has the personality of a dry wash rag but, he's been in three big budget movies.....one bomb after the other and he still got more chances. Kellen Lutz can't act to save his life....but, they just threw $70 million behind him for the Hercules movie and he's starring in the new Tarzan movie. I don't buy your excuse. Our young guys aren't getting opportunities, even if they have "it".....while these white boys can be complete trash as an actor and get major backing as long as studios feel they have the look.

you talking about white actors appealing to white people, when are you gonna stand that as long as you want to live with whites you will have to be live up to exceptional standards just to get recognition.
You mention Hercules and Tarzan, what black actor can play those roles anyway, they gotta get somebody

Who's the next Will Smith, Wesley Snipes, Denzel Washington, or Eddie Murphy
name one young black actor than can remotely come close to the range and the ability carry a film

In order for a black actor to be a blockbuster star he has to be great, they are no great young black actors that is fact
I don't even know who Kellen Lutz is, could give a shyt less, there aren't any new white leading man either that have surpassed the likes of Colin Ferrel and Brad Pitt, but movies are catered to white people so they will also be roles for them.

Also black film makers are challenged with making films that not only appeal to black people, but to other demographics as well.

This one of Denzel's early films, 3 years into his big screen career, you don't know what you speak of
you either have ability or you don't
like said, there aren't any stand out young white actors other than the already established stars who are getting up there in age now
