It's possible that they did this just to bring him national attention.

Maybe they thought Floyd was going to do the same thing he did with McGregor. Carry him through the fight, and then Floyd would end it. Maybe that would've helped Tenshin's brand. However, Floyd was paid significantly less for this so he had no intention of carrying anyone.
