10 was probably the last one which was mostly praised. Each installment since has been polarizing although IMO more unfairly hated on than not

I liked Vince-JR-Lawler in '96/97. JR was the clear babyface, Lawler was the heel, and Vince was the neutral party who leaned face but would agree with Lawler when he had a point and play devil's advocate.

Whereas with this SD team, they got Tom and Byron spewing Vince/H's thoughts while Corey is the only one voicing the heel or fans thoughts.

That commentary by Byron on Tuesday against Bryan tells you everything you need to know about why this team doesn't work.
