He would definitely need to start a hell of a lot sooner against someone like Canelo. That window before he turned up is enough time for Canelo to get some good work in, which means potentially giving him a cut from clean punches. It would definitely be a fun fight
He wouldn't let Canelo impose his will early.

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
Man, I could see Canelo fighting Bivol at 175 with no restrictions. Bivol isn’t power puncher like that, and he’s just going to try to outbox Canelo. I know they agreed to fight at 172 catchweight once upon a time according to Coppinger. However, I cannot see a way that Canelo ever fights AB without hella restrictions. Basically, all of them: ring size, gloves, catchweight, rehydration clause, etc. If he fights dude at 175…. :picard:

Canelo could win, but he’d have to take an exorbitant amount of punishment to do so. I don’t feel like writing all this shyt out, but the gist is AB does not go backwards, Canelo does not have the legs/stamina to fight going backwards or avoid the ropes for 12 rounds. If he stands his ground, he’s going to take a shyt load of punishment. It’s clear to me the AB punches harder than GGG. He doesn’t even really land clean that much and dudes be beat the fukk up. There’s also levels to that come forward and pressure style. GGG basically fights behind the jab, but has great power. AB just trying to get you the fukk outta there.

If dude fights AB at 175 with no restrictions and beats him, he’s clearly a GOAT. It can’t even be questioned.

Beterbiev on Browne Headbutt: "It Was Intentional - 1000%"

Artur Beterbiev does not agree with the official verdict regarding the largest facial gash he has ever sustained inside a boxing ring.

The unified IBF and WBC light heavyweight titleholder from Russia extended his unbeaten record to 17 wins – all inside the distance – this past Saturday by stopping mandatory challenger Marcus Browne in the ninth round at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Beterbiev pummeled the southpaw from New York City, dropping him twice, in another hair-raising performance that should give his divisional cohorts some pause. But his win did not come without encountering some considerable hindrance.

In the fourth round, Beterbiev and Browne clashed heads, immediately opening up cuts on both fighters’ faces. Beterbiev was worse for the wear, with a deep laceration rippling down the middle of his forehead. The cut would mire Beterbiev’s face in a mask of blood for the remainder of the fight. Referee Michael Griffin deemed the headbutt unintentional. Generally speaking, it is not uncommon for unintentional headbutts to occur between a southpaw and orthodox fighter.

Postfight, Beterbiev, who trains out of Montreal, did not mince words as it related to Griffin’s assessment regarding the clash.

“I am convinced that it was intentional. 1000%,” Beterbiev (17-0, 17 KOs) told Mathieu Boulay of Le Journal de Montreal. “I don’t like it when boxers do things like that.

“I found that unsportsmanlike and dirty. Certain southpaws are good boxers and have beautiful skills, but not [Browne].”

Aside from the gruesome nature of the cut, the headbutt was significant for the reason that it almost led the ring doctor to stopping the fight. At the beginning of the fifth round, the doctor was overheard on the broadcast saying, “One more round.” Had the doctor followed up on this assertion, the fight – at the end of the fifth round – would have ended in a majority decision for Browne (24-2, 16 KOs); two of the judges had Browne leading at that point.

Beterbiev said the cut affected his thinking throughout the fight.

“During rounds five and six, I felt that Browne was beginning to slow down, but I wasn’t sure,” Beterbiev said. “I thought that that could be a tactic. On the other hand, I was mainly preoccupied with my cut and the fact that the fight could be stopped.”

Browne (24-2, 16 KOs), admittedly, has a history of being involved in fight-altering headbutts, although none of them have ever been categorized as anything but accidental. Most famously, a headbutt clash during his 2019 bout against Badou Jack, left Jack with a hellacious gash over his forehead, similar to the one incurred by Beterbiev. That same year, a headbutt during his bout against Jean Pascal led to their fight being stopped in the eighth round; Pascal won a technical decision.

Beterbiev’s cutman, Luc Vincent Ouellet, attested to the impossible task of trying to quell the open wound on his charge.

“I did my best to avoid the referee Michael Griffin or the doctor from stopping the fight,” Ouellet said. “I lost my biggest Q-tips working the cut. That doesn’t happen often. There was nothing else to do. There was no miracle solution.”

Canelo's fights the "bruisers" people say he's ducking slick fighters. He knocks out two slick fighters fighters back to back, now he's ducking the bruisers:mjlol:

Canelo fought golovkin twice who was considered the biggest puncher in the sport at the time. Two fights later he fought Danny Jacobs. One fight later he moved up and fought kovalev who just came off knocking out yarde with a jab and actually killed a man in the ring. You can say whatever you want about canelo, but you definitely can't say he's shook of fighting big punchers. That's a fact:yeshrug:

And that's not even to say beterbiev won't be tough. It's probably a 50-50 fight. But the guys on beterbiev's resume are nowhere near canelo's level. Let's see how relentless Arthur is when he's taking clean accurate power punches square on the chin. He's gonna be like the rest of these power punchers who fought canelo. Hesitant and gun-shy. Canelo is the better fighter with the better chin. And that's why he's gonna win. Now if he's not on his A game anything can happen. Beterbiev's is still dangerous as fukk. But canelo has proven he can adapt to any style. And he'll do it again. But after canelo wins they'll just say beterbiev was old:manny:

I respect your opinion though. We'll see how it goes :yeshrug:
Nah bro, you trippin. Beterbiev is different.

It doesn't matter if canelo punches harder than gvozdyk or not. If canelo knocks out Artur it'll be about the accuracy and the speed along with the power. Which is what makes canelo the puncher that he is. And I've always said thet a pressure fighter who can stay in canelo's chest all night will be his toughest opp. But canelo will also be the toughest and most dangerous guy beterbiev has ever faced. Artur is strong but he's also stiff and very hittable. Canelo will hit him with shyt he doesn't see coming. But like I said. We'll see. And there's still no guarantee Artur makes it past bivol:yeshrug:
Beast KO bivol badly man...

I've always said beterbiev is prolly the toughest fight out there for canelo. That's why I see it as a 50-50 fight. But canelo is different too:yeshrug:......I think people will be surprised when canelo starts rattling beterbiev in them short exchanges. But like I said. Canelo gotta be on his A game or anything can happen. But canelo definitely has the pop to get beterbiev's respect.

I mean Beast doesn't have an a1 chin yes...but not enough to KO or tire him. It be interesting to see if they do fight. Both would get infinite props.
