What the fukk is the drive or motivation behind the Funhouse and Fiend?

Funhouse Bray started off as a reformed Bray, which can easily be attributed to his friend with Matt Hardy, being put in that lake of transformation or whatever, but also a safe space for a mental breakdown from Bray's previous connections - the Buzzard, Sister Abigail, Huskus, etc. The character has had a supernatural element for as long as he was on the main roster, so fine, all that's already established in the canon of his character.

Save for Foley and King (I don't recall what connection there was to them), everyone he's attacked he's had some prior history with. Seth, going back to the Wyatt/Shield days. Balor, Kane, Braun in the Wyatt family, Bryan betraying the Wyatt family, everyone was a relic from Bray's past and there is a constant "you know what you did" alluding to their past.

His character is a mentally fractured, demonic representation of the Bray from before. The character is conflict - Bray trying to be "good" and reformed and learn from his past mistakes and hiding away in the funhouse and the evil in Bray fighting to come to the forefront and always seemingly winning that fight.

In comparison to Ricochets finger in the booty I'm a competitor, Humberto White Ranger, Randy I just RKO people out of nowhere, Black pick a fight with me and a myriad of other people on the roster that have no character depth beyond wanting to fight or run from a fight, yes, Bray's character has significantly more depth and in turn is more interesting than generic fighter A vs. B. As a result, more people are going to be into it - either for the inherent fukkery that comes from a character like this, or because it's something that is simply different than the vast majority of the roster.

It could also be argued that the "good" Bray is bullshyt and he's just manipulator across the board, trying to appeal to children as he has in the past, which again, calls back to the characters origin. I don't particularly care for that interpretation of the character as I like the idea of Bray just being mentally fractured not simply being manipulative, but even that lends itself to more space to play with.

Origin stories. Rhyme and reason. Connects to put together. It's a rare thing in this company to have stories that call back to anything and don't just seem to happen just because.

shytting on the pre-taped segments as if they're a handicap or makes him less of a champ silly to me because he's proven he can talk. The taped segments are almost like getting glimpses into a serial killers mind and the live action is the serial killer at large and makes the character that much morr dynamic to me.

The mood lighting which, again, in itself is more interesting than the vast majority of the roster simply for breaking the cookie cutter mold and gives him something different is itself a reason to be over.

So yeah, in short, I love the character. That new belt is trash though and could do without his face as the centerpiece. What would be dope is if the centerpiece was almost like a grid of faces of people he's beaten, kind of like the walls from the House of Black and White in Game of Thrones.

I can not believe you're actually defending a top guy who can't do his promos in front of the audience and the mood lighting.

You're the one who asked what the drive or motivation was for The Funhouse and The Fiend. Now you wanna shift the goalposts again. :mjlol:

People like it, you don't. We get it. Move on and get over it.

None of this motivation has been stated on screen at all, it's just fan wankery to make sense out of it. Imagine if all of Rock and Austin's promos were pre-tapes and their opponent had to interact with a screen.

This shyt was brought up in the first few episodes of The Firefly Funhouse. Not every episode has been taped either.
