When your corner is pleading with you to stay in the center of the ring and you can't do that, and you continually are getting hurt you know you didn't win. Fulton was begging Figgs to say it was close smh. Not the worst decision i've ever seen but clearly a bad one

He never hurt Fulton during the fight. Plus got hit with the way cleaner shots literally the whole fight.

This one was good too

Gary Russ' bro should have lost his fight imo, Santiago was tagging him all night, Russell didn't do enough clean work to me to win that

Aleem vs Baez: Not the best performance from Aleem but he got the close win on my cards. Th draw and the 96-94 cards were not problematic imo, the 98-92 was a joke though, Aleem has to be careful with those overhands, he just couldn't get away from them, Baez was landing them at will. If Baez is a big puncher one of those might hurt him badly. Imagine if that was Crazy A or Ronny Rios landing them overhand rights. :patrice: They don't have Baez's physical dimensions though plus due to the power Aleem might have been more careful too but this fight should be alarming for him nevertheless.

Fulton vs Figueroa: Good, entertaining, though messy fight, Fulton yet again proved that he can't be embarrassed by volume and a phone booth fight, he landed the cleaner, more precise shots throughout. Benavidez did his best, brought what he always brings: volume, and won some rounds but eventually, he got too few clear moments compared to Fulton, he mostly got beat in his own style.

Nice job Fulton, now bring on MJ vs Fulton, that would be an interesting stylistic clash.

This was a good fight. Had Fulton winning it 8-4. 7-5 is tolerable but a draw or Brandon win seems like a bit of a stretch. I noticed that Brandon was letting his hands go but Fulton was the one placing his shots more accurately.

@LauderdaleBoss please come in here and drop some thoughts on this

I went against my gut and picked Futlon, but in the back of my head I felt like Figgy would run over dude if he doesn't get hurt enough. Lowkey thats what I saw. FOTY candidate no doubt. Great fight, but Fulton struggled to keep Figgy off of him and all the holding and clinching kinda makes the case. He needed to be more assertive and stop Figgy from getting momentum,

Fulton landed the cleaner shots,( mostly in the first 6 or 7 rds), but he definitely lost the ring generalship battle. (especially late) after a while his clean punches were getting more sparse and he smothered a lot of his own work. Its hard to score eye catching punches inbetween clinches and if the guy still falls on top of you while throwing and landing more, you end up giving ground. Fulton needed to pivot and use the ring more.

I had Figgy winning, or a draw, but I didn't see Fulton winning this, especially by no 8 rds to 4. 7 rds to 5 either way aint bad tho.. Had a lot of close swing rds where Fulton would look good for 2 minutes or 2 1/2 minutes, but then Figgy would fire his ass up for the last 30 secs and just control everything. Plus it looked like he hurt Fulton several times.

Would love a rematch, but that prolly won't happen.

Aleem looked horrible, but he won a clear close one. That nikka was eating mad right hands got damn and got rocked a few times too. He needed to jab his way in more while keeping his head off the line. Baez was catching him all night with that left shoulder down. smh.

Patient Fists aka Russell got a draw imo. He aint win that shyt. Wasn't assertive enough and got lit up too many times. He did land some good shots, but that nikka couldn't stay his ass off the ropes and didn't jab enough. Fight felt like a poor man's Charlo vs Castano.

Lowkey the Mexicans were the story of the night on Showtime's card. They put them nikkas through hell lol.

Alejandro Santiago Very Eager To Face Gary Antonio Russell in Rematch

Accustomed to boxing’s ups and downs, Mexican bantamweight contender Alejandro “Peque” Santiago says he’s not going to let his nationally televised majority-decision loss to Gary Antonio Russell last Saturday night (November 27) slow him down.

With the Showtime cameras rolling at Park MGM’s Dolby Live in Las Vegas, Santiago (24-3-5, 13 KOs) and Russell fought a war for ten rounds with some feeling Santiago’s pressuring style had outshined the undefeated Russell’s speed after 10 intense rounds.

However, it was not to be for the hard-luck Santiago, as Russell was given the nod via majority-decision. Judges Steve Morrow and Benoit Roussel scored Russell a 96-94 winner, while Judge Lisa Giampa scored the contest a draw at 95-95.

After going through several draws against top fighters in high-profile fights, including one particularly dubious draw against IBF Super Flyweight Champion Jerwin Ancajas in 2018, 25-year-old Santiago, from Tijuana, Baja California, says he’s not shocked or disheartened by the loss to Russell.

“I wasn’t shocked because I have been here before,” explained Santiago, post-fight. “My team had warned me that the closer rounds will go to Russell because he is the house fighter. When my promoter Paco Damian calls me for an opportunity like this, I never say no. I embrace the opportunity and I don’t care if I have to go and fight my opponents in their backyard. I mean, look at my record I have five draws, I believe I won all those fights including the Jerwin Ancajas world title fight.”

In fact, the realistic Santiago surprisingly blames himself for the setback.

“I don’t like to use the term robbed,” said Santiago. “In my opinion, I thought I won 6 of the 10 rounds. It was a very close fight and there is no one here to blame but me. I blame myself because it took me the first couple of rounds to make adjustments and follow our game plan.”

Despite the disappointment, Santiago says his strong performance against Russell, a celebrated 2016 U.S. Olympian, negates any career damage he may suffer.

“I would love the opportunity to fight Russell again, I think it was a great fight and I’m sure many people will love to watch us do it again. And this time, I would like it to be for a title eliminator that will give the winner the opportunity to fight for a world title. But if Russell doesn’t want another war that I will bring, we move on. My career has been defined by people underestimating me and paying the price for their mistake. I’ll be back.”

Close fight, but the right man won. Totally classless from Figueroa at the end. Just say, "Fultons a tough opponent, and it was a close fight, but I felt I did enough to win" or something like that. Interrupting his interview and claiming "everyone knows I won" is babyish as well as untue.
