I'm only through FTR/Bucks and this has been so much better than the other big events this year from AEW in the age of 'rona. I watched the buy in because I've only watched maybe one and a half shows of Dynamite since March and their video packages are a million times better than putting the stories together than the actual weekly shows themselves.
Omega/Page: Very strong, one of the miracles AEW has been able to pull out is to make people give a shyt about Adam Page. And somehow this angle with him and Kenny still has juice after this long and can still go either way with either guy snapping and going heel and it will feel right. My feeling is it probably leads to Kenny winning the title, Page winning it off of him, and Kenny losing his shyt after. Pretty neat having Don Callis in for the call, but once I got to thinking about it, it's really the least they could fukking do for Impact after taking LAX/Lucha Bros/Brian Cage within a few months of each other.
OC/Short Jacked Guy: that OC went from feuding with Jericho to this random dude in the low card stable and not only that, but had more trouble putting him away than he did Jericho. Pretty fun little match, though.
Darby/Cody: Darby is nuts. I can not believe they let him take some of the bumps he takes. The hammerlock throw over the ropes and that dude easily, easily could have destroyed every part of his arm because he didn't even try to move it last second like you do in a normal hammerlock slam. He just straight up landed on his arm like that. And then in the promo video he's out there literally getting hit by a car
This is way late coming, Darby's push has been so start-stop, something like this should have happened 6 months ago. I think it would have been better for Darby, the story, the moment, and Cody's character to have a more triumphant finish instead of a roll up but it was pretty good. Based on the pre match package, I don't think it makes a lot of sense for Cody to bend the knee and hand over the belt
Taz is so much better at just being the pissed off dude talking shyt instead of the goof he's been for the past 20 years or so.
Nyla/Shida: Another disaster women's match to halt all the momentum of the show. It's getting hard not to start blaming Shida at this point as she's been the only constant in all these bad matches.
FTR/Young Bucks: I don't know that this could have lived up to the hype, and I don't think it was as good as Bucks vs Page/Omega (which has the advantage of being in a packed arena with a real crowd), but it was definitely much better than FTR vs Omega/Page. This was very good until the terrible finish that was so completely out of character, so much it literally went directly against FTR's own fukking catchphrase
That shyt was really just full blown
you mother fukkers. Terrible, terrible finish. Which is such a shame because up to that it was bordering on great. Really enjoyed seeing which teams influenced each side, with the Bucks on their RNR Express (really probably more The Rockers but The Rockers were just a RNR rip off anyway) TLC teams, FTR with Arn/Tully/Steiners/Hart Foundation/weirdly Power and Glory
. The shout out to DIY
I also liked the character differences shown in their gear: Bucks with flashy Lakers inspired gear, FTR with 50s/60s style Packers gear.
