tre you were the best mod in the coliseum, mel was cool too...personally, i don't understand the hate he's getting in here. was he sometimes protective of nyc sports teams? maybe. but it wasn't that noticeable imo. this coming from someone who was campaigning for 'regional mods' two years ago b/c of the lack of southern representation. overall the four of yall were professional and open about things and since i'm not trying to mod any forum, i don't think i have the right to criticize yall b/c i'm not in your shoes, nor am i trying to be.
but i think it's unfair to claim everyone on this site is some type of degenerate troll. there might be a handful on here who are going buckwild right now, but eventually it will settle down. as will the threads about sohh and the over usage of similes. relax, be patient, the newness is still here but all of the gluttony will eventually calm down.
as someone who was in that ***** thread, i can attest that nobody on this site was a major part of it. that fault starts and ends with raymondfarris. he was the only who was going hard in the paint. there were a few others that were making slick comments but nothing that caught the attention of ***** like what RF was doing. i don't even think mook or char was in that thread. i could be wrong.
my main issue I had with the site was the lack of communication about the technical issues. it's one thing to have constant technical issues in 2012, it's another thing when you remain mute about the issues and sometimes confrontational when someone brings them up. i mean cmon bro, do you not see something wrong with them waiting till half the site leaves before they finally put up a stickie about it? that aint genuine my G. even now you are saying we "don't know half of it". what does that mean bro? is there something behind the scenes that is preventing a server upgrade? i wish there was more clarity in this situation. what exactly is the issue? can they not get in touch with felecia? are there not enough funds? why can one site upgrade and run smoothly within one week but another can't do it within years? even now we cannot get a clear answer from you. if femme had come out and explained this particular issue more clearly and thoroughly then i doubt there would have been this much of an uproar. it's a lot easier to be understanding as long as we know that you have acknowledge the problem and are trying to solve it. and like many others have said, people were willing to put up their own money to help fix the problem. that is one of the realest forms of loyalty imo that sohh wasted away.
also, i feel like they got way too comfortable over there in general. they never thought about being progressive with the site. they never thought about improving the user experience there unless it required the ban hammer. i know what made sohh appealing to some extent was the old fashioned simple design, but it would have been nice if they had taken the input of the members more seriously and looked to make a few minor tweaks here and there while preserving the integrity of the site.
another issue was the inability of users to get accounts. it is really remarkable how many damn lurkers we had over there. i had no idea the issue was this big. when your online community is getting older and more and more posters are retiring, don't you think it would be smart to replace those users with fresh new ones just to keep discussions lively? i don't understand that elitist attitude that those who do not have a school email aren't allowed. that policy can be seen as racist in many ways.
all in all i'm happy with this site. i think the owners should be congratulated and thanked instead of belittled (not saying you are doing that) b/c they were actually proactive about creating some competition for a site that had got too fat and happy. Just like in the real world, when you are not satisfied with a product or service, you are allowed take your business elsewhere. simple as that.
