1957 but the remake is decent.

12 Angry Men is my fav. movie but its also a movie I'd liked to see remade every 5 years because its basically a play and can be made cheaply, like a TV special. The script is so good and it would be a good chance to see what actor can really do with dialogue alone. I've twice casted 12 Angry Men.

The original was on couple weeks ago, I dvr'd it and tried to get my lady to watch it with me but no luck. I've watched it twice since. One of my favorites.

TDK will never get old.. one of the most highly re-playable movies out there period. Heath took the villain role to a whole different higher level. He put the Joker right up there with Darth Vader imo as far as all time great screen villains.

A lot has happened since 2008. At the time and for a few years after, the general consensus was that Dark Knight is the best comic book flick ever. Obviously not everyone feels that way but again, just the general consensus here.

But is it still that way? And if not, what now stands on top of the comic book flick mountain? Or yeah, is dark knight still the pinnacle? Been thinking about this lately and wanted to get the film room’s thoughts.
lets be real... heath ledger carried that entire movie on his back...everything having to do with bruce was boring as fukk, that dent reveal and 15 mins of screen time was pointless and weak, along with the whole "is gordon really dead" nonsense..

movie to movie... i'm not even sure it was better than the first two blades... it definitely ain't better than logan.. nor black panther

I disagree on most of this but I’ve already said how I feel about the flick in the thread so no point in rehashing it all. But props for the opinion tho homie

The overrating of black panther is ridiculous. :beli: shyt ain't even been out a month.
it takes you a month to know if one film is better than another :jbhmm:

you can't watch a film tomorrow and it be a top 10 film? you'd have to watch it for what.... a year? before you could determine if it's good or not?

Yes this movie has some major writing and convoluted plot B.S.,

It still has an epic feeling to it and Nolan was still able to make it look like it was a masterpiece. I have to give him props for that because that's skilled directing. The writing and overall plot is bloated and ridiculous but he made it work somehow. Well like you said, Heath was the key.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great movie still. Nolan can direct a his ass off and make anything look beautiful. i like that they kept it grounded somewhat too. i couldn't go for another campy batman. but if we're going to talk about best of all time, we gotta start nitpicking. we can't have a bloated and ridiculous plot as the goat. batman nor comics in general, should have weak action. books nor movies. and your main character shouldn't be so bland.

top 5 isn't bad to me.. not at all.. not when there's like 20-30 comic movies already out. my top in no order are blade, logan, tdk, winter soldier, black panther.. i don't like too much kiddie shyt, convuluted plots or shyt that don't make sense, or weak ass action. and now that i look at my list, i really don't like too much super powers. give me some nice hand to hand, an adult/realistic level of violence/themes/powers, make it make sense and make it all look good, and you have a top movie. 90% of these films can't even manage to do that.

i just don't think nolan nailed 50% of that amazingly well. two face had zero business being there. could have let him have the whole next movie or share it with bane. the fighting and action was garbage. plot/tech was just being invented to move along the story. everybody knew too much all the time. and the damn love story................. but GODDAMN you couldn't wait for the joker to show back up. and when he did you were just fixed in on every word. and then when they faced off, that's when you got the best batman. you didn't know what he'd do next. he was killing everybody. it could come on USA right now and i'd wait through commercials to keep watching it.. that can't be ignored no matter what else i find wrong

I'm one of those people that appreciated TDK a little later after subsequent viewings but in the theater I knew it was a classic just by Ledger and the presentation alone i just wasn't a Stan at the time , still aint.. But then i noticed a lot of its flaws which I can't help but notice when it's on ..but it's still gotta be up there as one of the best if not the best. Logan is my other favorite probably because it's kind of a drama.

And do we know if the script had to be changed any due to Heaths death? From my understanding he had shot all his scenes. Anyone know?

Your opinion on a movie has never changed over time?
not really :ld:

i may check out an old movie and laugh at the effects and shyt.. or maybe i saw something when i was younger, and i understand or hate it more as an adult... but since about 25, i'm gonna say, i know a good movie when i see one. if i see something that is trash, 5 rewatches ain't making me decide it's good. same with the other direction. if i see a movie, i'm able to determine if it's good or not. or if it's better than this movie or that movie

i don't know many movies that i had to watch a bunch of times to start giving props.. and even less got my props and then later i was like "nah fukk that movie"

The reason why TDKR cant really be surpassed is cause it doesn’t feel like a superhero movie. It feels like just a dope ass movie with a dope ass character that happens to be a superhero. Like if Bruce wasn’t Batman but still had to live the life of Bruce Wayne, you’d still have a dope fukking movie. I guess what really makes it legit is how incredibly interesting Bruce can be when a director isn’t making him look like a hard ass or something. Nolan was perfect, Bale was perfect, the supporting cast and environment around Bruce was perfect. Tony Stark is the closest guy marvel could fathomably have that’s dope outside the superhero shyt and they came fairly close.

I’ll actually say that marvel does a very good job of making Iron Man 1 feel like a mold breaking movie with Stark’s day to day life. I’d need to see Homecoming to know if they strike the same magic with Parker honestly

My top 3 are Dark Knight, Black Panther, and Logan as of right now with Dark Knight in the top spot. Actually about to run through and marathon all the comic book movies again since it's been a while since I've seen the majority of them. I saw Dark Knight in theater three times and now have seen Black Panther three times. To me the thing that sets those two apart as straight comic book movies is all the big moments that happen. Where everytime I watch there's another dope part coming up that I'm hyped to see. Logan wasn't great in the comic book sense of huge action (even though it had some great scenes) but just pure story wise and emotion it's done better than every other comic book movie I've seen.
