This is a ridiculous thread:
  • You can't say "Tupac has more hot albums than Biggie," because Biggie died before he could release any more.
  • The reason their lyrical content is different is because they grew up in vastly different environment. You get more Black empowerment from Tupac because that's what he grew up around, and more mafioso-style drug deal raps from Biggie because that's what he grew up around.
  • They have different impacts because they worked with different artists in different places in America, with different style records, and everyone seems to be forgetting Tupac was also an actor, among other things, so he would have a wider audience.
  • There is a limited amount of music Biggie had vs Tupac, so comparing flows is a weak way to compare artists.
  • They both set the blueprint for today's artists, at the same time, so did Rakim, Diddy, LL Cool J, Kool G, Big Daddy Kane, and a large number of other artists at the time.
  • Biggie's platform for female artists was larger, but that may have changed had Tupac's career not been cut short.
A lot of points made are entirely opinion in this thread. Biggie had a shorter career than Tupac, Tupac had a career composed of different media, they were a part of different groups, different styles, different coasts, and different producers.Comparing them is ridiculous.

Biggie to me has always been overrated. And he was one dimensional as hell with his content. And this thread proves how desperately Biggie fans try to justify placing him over Pac. :pachaha:

Giving a platform for female MCs? You mean Lil Kim who talked about making Sprite cans disappear? :mjlol:

And giving subliminal disses when someone can't respond back is some bytch made shyt.

On technical spitting aspects, and not emotional socio-political talk, Pac isn't even seeing Jay, isn't seeing Nas, isn't seeing Cam, isn't seeing Ra and a host of other elite spitters. Pac is on the same level as 50 cent, just more likeable and slightly more talented but basically in the same bracket. Pac doesn't sit at the table with Big, Nas Jay etc, he dines with rappers of similar technical ability in the class of Luda, TI etc..those are his peers technically, and even then Im sure they hold their own against him. If you subtract the antics and games from Pac and leave him bare there's nothing interesting anymore..flow was awful, some of the worst breath control in rap, voice dragging and trailing off and then shouting. Pac had a lot of heart, and we know confidence does wonders for a person and it took him far, but he was far from the best rapper.

I'll say this though...

with all the shyt thats going on. You really could just sit and listen to some Pac lyrics and it would hit home.

These arent even OG versions of songs when he was alive and they are incredible

Yea some of its simplistic, but effective. Its just relatable.

"So I'm solo and so broke. Saving up for some Jordan's cause they dope. I got a girl and I love her but she broke too. ":mjcry:

The lyrics to Mama's Just a Little Girl are incredible. The depth :mindblown::wow:

She was ..
Born A heavy set girl with pig tails and curls
A heart full of gold
Still it won't change the world
Though she could never understand why
Some underhanded plans, witnessed a man die
Was only 15
Should have been a beauty queen
Still see her crying by the caskets when her parents got killed
Little girl don't cry
'Coz even though they died
You can best believe they watching over thee from the sky
Never asked for this misery
But look at what you gettin'
It's a blessing in disguise
When you find out your pregnant
No money, no home
And even though you all alone
You'se got to do this on your own
So baby go on
I wish you luck
And if you need me, call
Just come to me and let me feed you all
I can understand
The way it feels when you fighting the world
Facing all this drama
When mama's just A little girl

[Verse 2: Tupac]

At 16 what a beautiful thing
The very essence of a jet black ebony queen
And who could tell she would get pregnant at an early age
She didn't listen, had sex
Watch her belly raise (hey)
Got violated by someone she dated
If this is fate I hate to see the seed she created

So we wait, though it takes time to build the body and the mind
She reclines 9 months
Then finally its time
What do we find?
A little grown boy a mind with a tortured soul
Addicted to a life of crime at no time of the growing stage
He learned his values on the streets at an early age
Watch for police
Don't come home (why)
'Coz mammas acting crazy
At the hospital
'Bout to have another baby
Like the rose from concrete
Grown within
Blessed with twins
How the hell can mamma raise 3 men

So we began a closest family
Such insanity
A happy home
For one act inhumanity
Plus mammas said the seed was corrupted
Used the rubber belly
Begging us to breathe if she love us
Now mamma sits quiet
Sipping peppermint schnapps
Turned the house into a spot and made her watch for cops (hey)
How could mamma bring a thug like me into this world?
She ain't the cause of all the drama
Cause mommas just a little girl

[Verse 3: Tupac]
Now
Would she remain in the same spot?
The gunshots rang, they came from the cane spot
Now look here
I see her clutching her son
In her arms she hurt
Her heart bleeding as she watched her seed die in the dirt
Fulfill prophecy
But who could stop the grief?
I walk around trying to hold the world up on top me
Probably be an innocent man
But still I'm the victim of a curse
What could be worse?
Nothing but pain

Since my birth, taught me functions at the pen
Cause everybody's in paying back society
I'm guilty of a life of sin
I watched the drama occur
My eyes blurred 'fore I jet it
I wonder why we all have to die for we get it
Though we shed tears
So many peers I done buried
Worried and scared
Knowing I'ma see the cemetery
Must be prepared in this cold world
No-one cares
No it ain't fair
But we all there
And do our share
In this land of underhanded schemes and plans
Vivid dreams of a nikka having g's in hand
Mamma told me not to be a punk
fukk what you talking about coward
What you nikkas want?

by now i like biggies music better than pac's (used to be the other way around when i was younger), but half of this list is complete bullshyt. bigge was the better mc, pac was the more influential rapper, it's that simple.

junior mafia was not better than the outlawz, they were the epitome of weedcarriers, they were so whack, biggie didn't even put them on his own albums. biggie might have been the king of new york, but at that time the westcoasts was more relevant and pac was the king of the west. biggie didn't give a platform to female mc's, he gave a platform to his mistresses. and as for no. 10 i don't even know how the came up with that. they might be talking about jay-z, but tupac is the most emulated rapper ever and influenced generations of rap stars. i give them number 1 and 2, the rest is either debatable or not true.
