Actress from famous ‘Walking in NYC as a Woman’ viral catcall video files $500K lawsuit against makers of video

After 10 hours of catcalls, Shoshana Roberts is ready for a cash call.
The star of last fall’s viral video “Ten Hours of Walking in NYC as a Woman” filed suit Tuesday seeking $500,000 for her featured performance in the two-minute clip viewed more than 40 million times.
The defendants named in the suit include Rob Bliss, who came up with the concept, along with Hollaback!, an advocacy group with a stated goal of ending street harassment.
The two, along with co-defendants Google, You Tube and TGI Friday’s, were accused of failure to get Roberts’ signed permission to air the video before they used it to sell advertising.
The defendants unjustly enriched themselves — and violated her civil rights — by creating and airing videos containing her “creative content, performance, image, likeness and persona for the purposes of advertising or trade without her prior written consent,” the lawsuit charged.
Roberts, after answering a Craiglist casting call, was filmed during a 10-hour stroll through the city where she was routinely harassed by an assortment of men.
Roberts, 24, claims she earned just $200 for the video that appeared on Oct. 28, 2014, and led to online threats against the aspiring actress.
When contacted by the Daily News, she referred all calls to her attorney Kevin Goering, who could not be reached for comment.
Hollaback! co-founder and executive director Emily May said the group had not received the court papers and had no further information about the allegations. Bliss did not respond to an email seeking a response.
