The Kingdom of Mali should be number one on that list in my opinion. We are still listening to music from that Kingdom to this very day in the USA. Almost all forms of music attributed to the USA has it basis in Mali. That country also contributed stuff like rice to the USA.

That list is weird because Songhay is actually a successor kingdom to Mali. It to was largely founded by Mande people. Ghana as the predecessor to Mali was also founded by Mande people. There is also no Zimbabwe; nor any of the City-States in East Africa nor any of those Moorish Kingdoms in Morocco on that list.
Yeah wtf Morocco has to be mentioned there the ones that destroyed the songhai empire

Some of these came literally thousands of years after ancient Egypt was over.

We can talk about other African civilizations without shytting on Ancient Egypt. They are all very interesting and I have read about all of them.

And there is still more that have yet to be uncovered. Like the Kingdom of Yam, a trading partner of ancient Egypt that could be located in current day Chad (Hieroglyphs were found near there). If not there, then it's somewhere to the south or southwest of Nubia.

He also left out the Sao culture and the Kanem Empire. Although there isn't too much known about those two. African archeology needs more funding!
Gotta make sure we are funding our own archaeology, you know the white man is knee deep in our stuff already.

I understand this is very controversial but I tend to exclude the Swahili states when it comes to African history there seems to be a lot of influence from outsiders not saying outsiders completely built that civilisation but there seems to be more input from outsiders as let's say the Benin Empire, Ashanti Empire or Mali Empire.

Don't fall for that white supremecist "outside influence" trick. The same is true of every great "white" civilization including both the Greeks and Romans who were heavily influenced by the Egyptians and Near East. Why hold black societies to a different standard?

The Swahili were black people who spoke and African language and just happened to be muslim.

They were also the trading partners of the Kingdoms of Ghana, Mali and Songhay. They were also the reason that Islam gained a foothold West Africa and they were African.

Very true fam, the same would apply to them also as you mentioned. it's just that I see more foreign influence in the Swahili civilisation then let's say other medieval African empires in West and Central Africa.

you already know what I'm reppin :ohlawd:

Punt :to:

where's great zimbabwe? :dahell:

great zimbabwe gets the the distinction of being a civilization so impressive cacs straight up believed they came to africa once and built it. Sadly it's eroded, but man that was the closest thing to paradise on earth :myman:

The fetishizing of Egypt is quite odd tbh. Amazing civilization, incredibly important to African history, but miss me with the "nothing even comes close". A lot of these African empires accomplished things no other civilization accomplished. The Mali empire was literally so influential with regards to currency expenditures, that markets and countries would crash overnight simply by them dishing some loot. They also proliferated many southern partnerships in the wake of their demise.

Cac mentality is storing adoration and prestige one singular civilization.

Egypt birthed entire ideologies throughout the world. Without kemet, u wouldn't have a lot of other famous superpower. Also abrahimic religions can be traced back to kemetic folktales.

you could same the same for punt, land of kush. kush particularly is littered throughout the testaments and abrahamic literature. so no the folktales of egypt are not the only sources for their original inceptions, nor the followers that came later.

those kingdoms spurned ideological sprees across most of the levant in much the same way as Egypt.

remember a lot of revisionist history comes from white civilizations, and of course they enjoy the ones they personally interacted with.

again, this adoration for this one civilization is an issue and it needs to stop. It's incredible, amazing, arguably the greatest in history, however it isn't so above and beyond other civilizations that it deserves this strange adoration. that truly mitigates what other africans accomplished and will accomplish in the future.
