After Beterviev cleans Yarde up, are we any closer to , imo, the best fight in boxing.....Bivol/Beterbiev or is the business gonna get in the way of that too?

Why is this sport like this man :mjcry:
I don't think Bivol wants that fight though tbh (and i don't blame him.) One or two easier fights (unless there's a mandatory) and then a potential Canelo rematch. That fight is the biggest payday in the sport. Nobody wants to jeopardise that. It's prizefighting after all.

It is, and I don't blame Bivol if that's the game plan. Go where the money at .

My point is, the money should always be with the best fighting the best, like every other sport. Bivol-Beterbiev is the best fight in boxing rn imo. In every way. So it shouldn't be any reason that isn't the big money fight for him.....but its not for this sport for wateva reason. And I don't know who to blame :dahell:

Sure, but neither of these fighters have a mainstream following or promotional capacity that allows for a guaranteed, high numbers ppv/audience. If one of them was Mexican or American then it might be a different story. In fact, neither of them really speak much English at all, so marketing the fight is problematic for American promoters (aka Top Rank.) Perhaps Putin or a Russian Oligarch throw their hat in the ring? :lolbron:

Boxing is unique to MMA etc in this respect.

It's a cool fight, i'd love to see it, don't get me wrong, but promoters are there to sell fights.

I'd strongly argue that Spence v Crawford takes best fight mantle. 175 isn't a marquee weight like 147 is.

Whats this I hear about Yarde trainer being trash

Tunde is more of a cheerleader and Yarde has been loyal to him since it’s who he started with when he had no experience. I’ve been following Yarde from early in his career, and he has made it clear in interviews that he internally had conversations with Tunde that they needed to make changes after the Arthur loss, which is why he brought in former British Champ James Cook.

I feel like Cook is the true coach in the Camp now bc the style he fought with in the Arthur rematch and his last tune up is exactly the style that works for him. A very athletic and aggressive body puncher, with good movement that can break his opponent down with educated pressure. Tunde wanted him to fight like Floyd which didn’t make no damn sense. Cook has him fighting like the tank that he is, and I feel like he will honestly give Beterbiev a very competitive fight.

I didn't realise yarde was working with james cook. I saw the arthur fight but it was an upload the next morning and these uploads nearly always edit out inbetween rounds so you never get to see or hear from the coaches

James cook has a gym not too far from where I used to live and I never even heard about it until I moved to the other side of london. Boxing gyms that don't cater for yuppies as their main clientele are nearly always almost very far below the radar and you only hear about them through word of mouth. I would have loved to have trained there when I lived closer. Good to see him coaching at the highest level

There should be a gulf in skills here that no athleticism and age can make up for.

Expect Beterbiev to mince Yarde just like he did others. Yarde has a puncher's chance but that's it, even if he gains Beterbiev's respect by being explosive early on his defensive holes and his bad stamina should seal his fate as the fight progresses.

Unless he catches Beterbiev with something big in the early rounds and capitalizes on it but I don't really see it tbh.

As for Bivol, earlier he said he isn't super interested in the Canelo fight but he wants Beterbiev, I hope he stick to that. Hearn wanted Callum Smith to be Beterbiev's next opponent and as I saw on social media a lot of delusional UK fans started to believe Smith has a chance in there because he stopped 2 fringe guys at 175 but seems like Callum SMith will fight someone early March so that might leave a window for Beterbiev vs Bivol.

Imo the reason Hearn wants to flood Beterbiev and Bivol with his fighters asap is that he's afraid that he misses out on the Canelo money. If Bivol and Beterbiev fight each other and Bivol loses then Canelo might not even want to target Bivol anymore and with that Hearn would likely be out of the picture

If Canelo is serious about revenging his L then the belt shouldn't matter (as his reasonings for wanting to get the rematch seemed more principal than belt). I could be wrong of course.
