The fukked up thing is, Sammy's most natural character evolution is for him to pop up with Tay on his arm, being smarmy, self-impressed and let her be a mush-mouthed exclamation point to his promos praising himself.

But the company employs Adam Cole and Britt Baker. And that's also their most natural character evolutions (this 'devil' thing ain't gon hit)

I think that's the issue with AEW to me. They have logjams of the exact same type of character so no one ends up getting over. Hobbs is Wardlow is Brian Cage is Lance Archer. Julia Hart is Skye Blue is Anna Jay(A.S). Guevara is Starks.

Hell. Copeland is Punk is Jericho. They aren't characters, they are archetypes. And Khan ends up really bad at booking the people who aren't. Look at Thunder Rosa. Look at Jade. He had to turn Statlander into Orange Cassidy during her TBS run.
