I wasn't trying to excuse them, I'm just pointing out that I blatantly did something that cause me to get jumped. Whereas if I had just kept walking nothing would have happened. Don't mean to downplay how worthless the behavior of gangbangers are, I think they're a plague on society, but never once in my life have I had a banger come at me while I was minding my own business.
There's been a couple (very rare) times in my life where I was walking down the block away from home and chose to turn around on the sidewalk and take myself down a different block because I could read the room. Certain fools are arrogant in front of their cribs.
Personally, I've never once had that experience at a business establishment. I'm sure I've ran across plenty of wolves on Century, Crenshaw, Manchester, Vermont, Kingsley, etc. but I'm not going to demean myself and incentivize bad behavior by fukking bribing them with false gifts. If they want to profit by terror then let them make the first move.

Im talking, like I was in a security conference in Sicily a few years ago, befriended the Armenian delegate, us being couple young brown guys were not tripping , were curious And wanna be out and about, they warned us not to leave the hotel but we didn't care etc
We ended up walking the streets of Palermo ..not knowing where we were...I'm talking alleyways...this is Palermo bro....if you know you know..
We moved with respect, but still...we ended up in some really grimey areas, seen some OGs gathering at doors watching us etc...people were eyeing us etc
We came through a local shop, saw kids gathered outside and bought ice cream for the kids ....for the rest of that day, these kids were chilling with us, trailing us with bikes, we ended playing soccer etc
It's not about fear or intimidation, it's about moving with respect and demonstrating strength through respect but also for me it's not a big deal like culturally but also I'm a man of means, and I'm a man of large physical stature (6'7) so for me this doesn't come off in any sense as weakness to any recipient of it because I never been taken for a mark or got checked for trying to disrespect someone by offering them something so that tell me everything I need to know
