Yeah, they picked a really bad time to balloon the field. Half the field is people you know aren't winning this shyt, and you're still not getting a ton of new and intriguing matchups. At this point, they need to take a L, and schedule at least half of next year's G1 to happen stateside so they can work in as much external talent as possible. I mean, shyt's so bad this year, we didn't have the question of "Are they wasting a spot with Chase Owens, Yoshi-Hashi, or Yujiro Takahashi," because they put all three of them in. And two of them are in the same fukking block. :dead:
It would be much easier if they booked people from Japan but they refuse to do it. It would be MUCH cheaper for New Japan too. They deserve to be in the hole they are in right now :yeshrug:

The fukking N-1 has a more appealing field and NOAH is basically an indy at this point :dead:

I forget... has a IWGP Heavyweight Champion won the G1 tournament in recent years? I always knew that was what Okada wanted to achieve
Sasaki was the last one 22 years ago. I'm not sure when was the last time the IWGP champion even reached the Finals. Nagata in 07' maybe?

To be fair, both times the champion won the G1 had very specific booking reasons: both were going to suffer big time defeats to outsiders after the tournament so they were booked as strong as possible.

I've watched both night 1 and night 2, they both start really slow, but it begins to pick up after the halfway point. In the end, I can see why people have been bored of the G1 Climax for the past two year.

Completely forgot about Cobb/Archer. How is it? Worth wasting time to watch?

Edit: checking it out. :dead: at the Young LIon selling Archer’s slap. :mjlol:
