Okada in a recent interview spoke on the differences of US and JPN crowds and even said himself he hopes that one day they get more vocal in Japan

Yoshi Hashi.... nah but he gets respect for being there for a long time. Goto on the other hand at one point had next.... but then the debut of The Rainmaker Okada, the popularity of The Ace Tanahashi and the wild crazy swag of Shinsuke Nakamura pretty much derailed Goto's push and he's been midcard status ever since.

I've resigned to the fact that aew is primarily a Super Indy. The less I stress out about why certain bums/unidentifiables get precious TV time, just to not be seen again for weeks, if not ever, the more I actually enjoy the show.

Wasn't it cuz of covid that Japan quieted down? Thought I remembered cheering before but I haven't been a long time fan so can't say for sure.
