How old was Dustin when he turned pro? I know he got the WCW call up at 19, but Dusty probably had him working before that.

Cody doesn't need to win the title. He's already over with the crowd, he has the most elaborate entrance on the whole show, he cuts long engaging promos whenever he needs to, and goes over pretty much everyone he faces.

I'd give it to Lance, and have Darby chase until early next year

Truuuu...but I think that they're trying to give us a "feel good" story to offset life in the real world.
That's why I think we might get Darby's Cinderella story here. Darby will be the plucky upstart who surprises Cody and then defies the odds to beat Archer. If Archer wins, they may go the route of having Darby refusing to quit (a lá Stone Cold vs Bret, or Jeff Hardy vs Undertaker) and gaining everybody's respect (again referencing the Rocky series; Rocky lost in the first movie), or Darby may get an assist from Cody (since Archer killed Dustin), and pick up the win.

According to Wikipedia, Dustin made his debut in Sept. in 88 in Championship Wrestling from Florida. That was a few months before he debuted in WCW, so yeah, he started at 19.

That's the point. Dustin is going to play Apollo Creed next week (with Brandi at his side to give us some theatrics). After Dustin gets murdered by Archer, we'll see Cody avenge his brother, put Jake Roberts in his place, and win the tourney. It's booking 101.
The only thing I could see changing that is if AEW decides to swerve us all and send Darby to the finals.
