Because pandering can be empty gestures that ultimately mean nothing. Remember when they changed the name of Aunt Jemima pancake mix, had Nancy Pelosi wearing kente cloth, and painted "Black Lives Matter" on a few city streets? That's pandering.
In the grand scheme, a Black man holding a mid-card title (for a week, if the rumors are true) is a pretty meaningless gesture. Featuring Black talent regularly on the main show, and elevating some Black wrestlers to main event postitions is progress.
Scorpio's title win last night was Nancy Pelosi's kente cloth. It was cute, but we should want to see Black champions become the norm, not the exception.

Nobody was asking for them to get rid of Aunt Jemima though, and Pelosi and them in kente cloth was stupid mostly because it overshadowed that they had just passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act in the House which was something people wanted.
Also that was all the Congressional Black Caucuses fault because they were the ones handing out them kente cloth scarf and you know there was no way any of the white Dems were going to refuse to go along with it once it was a CBC idea.
And I'm willing to give AEW the benefit of the doubt on this one because they don't usually hotshot their championships. So I'm expecting Scorpio to walk out of Dynamite next week as champ.

We'll see, but I'm looking past what happens with Scorpio next week. I'm more interested in seeing if some Black wrestlers will be allowed to become mainstays in the main event scene. Like I said in my last post, that will be the difference between pandering and progress.
