The what chant is popular in WWE specifically because you don’t have to be overly invested in the product to participate

People have to understand that WWE’s nightly audiences aren’t necessarily people who consistently follow the product on a weekly basis. Sure, some are, but that audience is typically families, couples and people having a night out. It’s the reason why nobody outside of the most popular acts even get reactions most nights. You can have absolutely no awareness of current storylines, superstars etc. and still wait for a pause to scream “what”
