Making Page look strong is more important right now than protecting Danielson.

Dragon was able to run through a bunch of people in record time using different finishers and it all lead to him putting Hangman over like no one else could at this stage of Page's push. It was the right decision.

Now, if he continues to wrestle weekly (or close to it) like he did before these title matches, it's gonna become inevitable for him to get the belt because he's basically showing why he's the best wrestler of the 2000's and that kind of momentum has to end with him having a title run.

It's the complete opposite, just like Omega beating everyone in different promotions as AEW champ. Makes the belt look more important if your champion is beating people outside home turf.

Dragon wants to work other places but he's had a bunch of chances to do it and hasn't so far. He wants to be home as much as possible while at the same time working full time for TK, and taking other bookings gets in the middle of that. The only way he leaves his family for an extended period of time is if Japan opens up it's borders again. Not sure indy companies will lure him unless he's with his kids from Monday through Friday (basically, if he has some sort of hiatus from AEW kayfabe wise).
