1. The majority of their beats were corny and soft as shyt. Like the type of beats that they would throw on a 1990's movie to depict a hip hop beat.
2. Majority of people didn't really know what the fukk they was spitting. You could argue that Wu Tang were on that same vibe in terms of lyrics...

I always thought Sunz of Man were one of the illest underappreciated groups of their time. As far as Wu-Affiliates go, I always preferred SOM over Killarmy (i'm a fan of both though).
