All these brilliant Mathematicians getting 1 let's really test y'all Algebra skills. Who can simplify this equation

multiplication/division take precedence over adding/subtraction and if there is parentheses they come first no matter what. left to right
6/2(2+1)
6/2(3)
3(3)=9
I learnt this as BODMAS in the UK,
Brackets, Orders, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction

Wouldn't the brackets 2 multiplied by the ().

I dunno, I got an A in maths back in high school but that was some years back and I don't take maths in uni:patrice:

:mjlol:

pemdas

pmd

as in parentheses

multiplication

then division :heh:

holy fukk :snoop:

you can't cross over like you tried to do with 6/2. that's one whole expression, you can't use 2 seperately from 6 unless you manipulate it someway.

so the () takes ultimate precedence so you solve whatever is within them (2+1)=(3). from there you go left to right and solve multiplication/division
division first 6/2
multiplication second 3(3)=9

5(x-3)/x(y+6)

First part of equation will give you x-5/x

Second part will give you (y+6)(x-5)/5(x-3)

Simplify and you'll have 5(x-3)/x(y+6)

Or some shyt like that, I'm prolly missing something but yea. I thought I let this shyt behind in the dust when I switched outta engineering :mjcry:

Dudes saying 1 forget that multi and divi have the same precedence. Damn, I'd blame the public education system if I wasn't raised on it.

It's 1. Multiplication before division.

I gave it a shot.. could be wrong though..:manny:

almost, but you switched your 3 and 5 up. It should be 5(x-3), which is 5x-15. That kinda switchup happens often when ppl go through a problem too quickly. You do that shyt in calculus on one line and could waste 15 minutes
