Where would you place Black films, i.e. New Jack City, Paid In Full, Belly, etc.
Which film do you like the most, Scarface, Blow, or Goodfellas?

Good question, I think that black gangster movies sometimes get blurred with hood coming of age movies. All the ones you listed I would consider gangster movies. I would put them in these tiers:
4. Paid in Full
6. New Jack City
8. Belly
Movies like menace and boyz n the hood would be in tiers 2-3, but I don't consider them gangster movies. They have more in common with stand by me than they do goodfellas.

I really don't think he is, honest. I firmly believe he holds his own. 90% of the movie is told through his eyes and not once did I feel bored spending time with him. Phenomenal performance imo.
but if we're being honest nothing in this thread compares to pacino in scarface.

The Departed is up there with Scarface IMO
Bronx Tale was a good ass gangster movie too. It wasn't as violent and it had a different perspective
There are some pretty good british gangster flicks like Snatch and Layer Cake
Lastly, City of God is a dope ass mob movie

This is blasphemy. Ray liotta may have turned into a b movie actor, but at the time, and especially in the goodfellas, he killed it. Marty knows how to pick his actors

The acting the writing the direction the music just everything about it. It's dope storytelling at a high ass level Liotas best performance along with Pesci's and a good performance from DeNiro that gets overshadowed. That tracking shot alone shyts on anything in blow or scarface. You get the idea of this world and it fills lived in. You understand the characters their motivations and ultimately what leads to their downfall.

I like Blow the best, Goodfellas has the most replay value, Scarface while classic is a bit dated.
And since we r talking about scarface: it's a dope performances wrapped around a shyt sandwich of a movie
