Bryan Clay squats 600 pounds and power cleans 335.
There is not a better all around athlete than an Olympic Decathlete.
i'll say gymnast. they have overall body strength, agility, speed, balance, and flexibility.
I'm saying man. He doesn't look impressive. But we talking about bench press 355 pounds, squat 600 pounds, power clean 335, running a 4.38 40 yard dash, 44 inch vertical, SCORING THE BEST SPARQ RATING EVER RECORDED(THE SAME RATING FOOTBALL PLAYERS USE AT THE COMBINE) and being an Olympic Gold/Silver winning Decathlete.
Show me someone more impressive. I don't think there is anyone out there.
You musn't know what a decathlete does? That is not functional athleticism though....
I bet his coordination is ass cheeks and his rhythm is on par with Bob Kraft....
If there was money in being a "decathlete" we would rule that too...
Old Jim Thorpe type motherfukkas make me laugh
You musn't know what a decathlete does?
The guy must have the stamina to do 1500m, the acceleration and speed for the 100m, a mix of the two for thr 400m, the explosive power to do high jump/long jump/shotput, the co-ordination to do the hurdles/pole vault/discuss, the rhythm for the discuss/javelin.
There is no way you can even discredit a decathlete's athleticism The giveaway is in the fukking name
And what is a name?...And when was "athlete" defined, before we redefined it?
If it was such a feat of athleticism and a display of awe, people would pay to watch it for its entertainment value, right? America's history would dictate it as such.
But for some reason, no one gives a ish about someone who claims to be an athlete when it's only opponent is a clock....
Theres a reason the 100m is the most watched track and field event, because its over in 10 seconds. The Decathlon takes 2 days. People aint got time to sit around for 2 days at specific times to watch decathlons most of the time. And what is a name?...And when was "athlete" defined, before we redefined it?

Only opponent is the clock? What about the 20 other decathletes they are competing against?
Jess Ennis won gold for GB this year and she's argueably the Countries most well known athlete right now.
Great Britain. What country is this..And the 100m is a different animal. You're not competing against the clock perse'....You're competing against other men who thought they were faster than you for the sake of being called the fastest men in the world......
And as far as the other decathletes, what are they exactly competing for if they are not breaking world records in specific events...They are faster 40 times and 100m times...They are heavier squat, bench records than these athletes put up, and the list goes on and on...
Where Bolt is talking about the world record holder in the Decathlon Ashton Eaton. At his press conference, I ask Bolt the same question: whos a better athlete, him or Eaton? Here, Bolt backs off his greatest-ever proclamations. Well, I m a great athlete, Bolt says. But ten events, especially the 1,500 Bolt hates long distances. Ive got to give it to him.
