That's not a race issue, that's a corporate culture issue.

Like you said, check the reviews from Glassdoor about those companies. You'll see how many people complain about work / life balance and shytty work conditions. I'm willing to bet that most of those people filling out those reviews are white.

Could have very well been corporate culture. It was just weird because I had a screening, a technical interview (with problems to solve) and an on-site and just the personality of these people were so :dame:

I mean maybe you're right because much larger companies have personalities too.

Living where I live you run into those "brogrammer" types and of course in tech you run into the brilliant a$$holes.

I interviewed for a job before at a real estate company that had the whole hipster startup vibe, and the cac bytch who interviewed me was literally shaking during the interview.

I would reconsider :yeshrug:

Even if you don't want the job you can always learn during the interview process
You can sharpen your interview skills
learn how to negotiate (if they want you, ask for more money)
etc.

Interviewing is a skill (because your resume/experience is the same no matter what) and you passed on at least the opportunity to sharpen that skill even further...at most you may be passing on a good fulfilling gig to help you move to the next phase in life

otherwise

Yeah.. if i'm actively looking for a new role I'll interview anywhere that's 70/80% what i'm looking for. Like you say, the sharpen the knife.

I've been to places and been like "nah" for whatever reason but i'll go through the interview process. Plus it's good to have an offer in hand when negotiating at the place you really want.

You obviously don't know how hard it is to get in at corporate at Amazon...this isn't some warehouse job.....please shut the fukk up...

would a hiring manager rather hire a random stranger, or someone your wife put in word for?

You know what networking is, right?

Or the saying "it's not what you know, it's who you know" ?

Again....my wife got him the interview....the interviewer did not know my wife got my friend the interview with him....so basically like I said he got himself the job....he just needed someone to get him an interview....

If someone gets you an interview that's basically a shoe-in. Nepotism 101.

Please stop.
that's not nepotism. nepotism is when homeboy doesn't even have to interview to get the job.

what bruh is talking about is basic networking. learn how business works breh. you as a business person would ALWAYS prefer to work with someone you could trust or have some type of ties to versus a complete stranger off the street

I'm guessing your a cac or cac masquerading as a black man with your refusal to acknowledge workforce discrimination of black men

You'd be wrong.

It's a well known fact that tech companies are modern-day sweatshops. Being black has nothing to do with it.

Wouldn't expect you to acknowledge that, though. Not when you can just spew "cac" without having any real knowledge of the industry.
