I was just researching (Wikipedia- I really need to buy a book) the Negro Leagues. It would be awesome to have black owned leagues. Who could compete against us?

@LadySimone
The the Negro leagues failed because of integration. White teams were able to show them the money. Unless you can get black ball players to support it don't see it happening. These athletes aren't really known for being problack so good luck with that.

I've figured that and that's something I have always wanted to discuss with Tariq Nasheed and Jason Black assuming I couldn't pull Dr. Claude Andersons coat about it.

The incentives of c00ning (not saying signing with a mainstream league is c00ning) is far greater than being about black empowerment. It's really only when blacks run afoul (Nikki Minaj) of white supremacy do they want to be pro black but by that time it's too late.

Dr. A and Tariq have often talk about blacks having a code of conduct but what use is it if blacks can't punish those who break the codes if black empowerment and the incentives for breaking it are huge and immediate though temporary.

The only thing that will keep black people (men) away from white folks is white folks.

I know exactly what you mean. I left my job to go work for myself a couple of years ago and it was the best decision I made in my life. It was scary and empowering at the same time. Scary because I'm responsible for everything and if I don't work, I don't eat. Empowering because I'm my own boss and there's not cap on my income. I don't have to be at the company for three years to beg for a $1 an hour raise.

In this day and age, it's easier than ever to start your own situation. I'm trying to constantly increase my streams of income, especially passive income, because that's where it's at. But working for myself also allows me the freedom to do what I want without having to worry about representing the interests or image of the company, because I am the company.

What kind of business do you do, breh

Powerful statement, this is something I have said myself but in different ways. There's a reason why segregation created so many Black owned businesses and Black men did right by their families and communities. The outside world wasn't as friendly a place so they had no choice but to stick to the community and get things done.

Everyone download the Around The Way app. I've been sleeping. It shows you the black owned businesses in your area.

Even found some black owned gas stations by the crib with cheap prices :whew:

Stopped by a gas station on the app and it definitely wasn't black owned :sadcam:

If you use the app, I guess it's hit or miss when the business isn't "Verified". I put $20 in the tank to hold me over until I find a black gas station.

Definitely check out the Buy Black Economics Facebook group for good info, linking up with people and organizations and updates on events, including the boycott Sept. 8.

@True Blue Moon Can you put the links to the black owned hotels, banks, etc. in the OP so people can easily find them? Also, you could link Coli threads that are related to this. I created a few that you may want to link:

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/to-t...up-economics-people-how-about-detroit.233381/

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/black-people-working-in-the-video-games-industry.237512/

I made the suggested changes. Plus rep.

Everybody let me know if anything else should be included up top.

How much land are ya'll going to get and how did those conversations come about?

Not sure yet. Were just getting our money together. But I just hit them up and explained group economics and they were immediately interested. Its like people didn't know it was possible to work with each other. White folks got this individual goal mentality. But we operate as a group in everything but economically. So it only took a couple hours to have people hop on the group economics wave. When all the plannings done I'll post it here and we can all link our stuff together. This site is perfect for reaching a lot of people and investing. I just hope these people are actually black...
