@MartyMcFly got it right. It wasn't so much the lack of Godzilla, it was that everything else about the story fell flat and I couldn't force myself to care about the bland leading characters.
And they killed the most interesting character and took away the emotional center of the movie 25 min in
8 mile for that cac getting that work from the free world and when that dude fukks his girl
...and i guess the battle scenes were decent

I don't hate that movie, but yeah he doesn't do any fighting. With that said the plane rescue, lex and the "Now fly" scenes were piff.
