Y'all might not remember Chris Whitney....played for the Wiz for a hot second. So he laced em up at a gym I used to work at. He had on cotton sweatpants, cotton sweatshirt with a towel wrapped around his neck and tucked in the front. He said "im not gonna do to much, just tryna get a good sweat". So of course all the top players in the gym wolfed up like they were about to show off in front of him. I swear on my life this dude played 2 games and never stepped foot inside the three point line on offense. He went something like 14/15 from three (counted as 2s). He had like 10 steals on defense. Professional point guards hands on defense are extraordinary. Every time someone dribbled the ball across their body in front of him it was gone and he ran down and pulled from three. He hit like four or five from a few steps across midcourt including the final game winner. He packed up his bag and walked out the gym. :wow: That dude shattered so many hoop dreams that day

:damn: :damn: :damn:

that is some SOUL SHATTERING ether

It's not a game.

I have more. Saw Tyrese Rice head down to Reggie Lew in Boston his freshman year when nobody knew who he was, and just dance on 'em. :russ: I've seen Jack Ryan (y'all know about him?) show up at random courts all over nyc in like, sweatpants, oversized tee, hat. And snatch dreams out of dudes with jumper. After Jumper. After Jumper. :wow: Saw Malik Rose come to a local gym during his short stint in nyc, and just manhandle dudes in the post, get bored, and then drop 4-5 threes in a row. Casual. :ehh: Kareem Reid showing up at halftime of street tourneys and going for 30, knocking teams out of the bracket. :bryan:

I watched Cuonzo Martin do something similar in Gary, Indiana. He was at the Glenn Robinson basketball camp as a helper. Anyways, he and others (not Glenn) would run full court. He looked like a bald create-a-player with maxed out stats. I don't remember too much about that day outside of that fact that like virtually every other story, his jumper was wet as fukk, I just mainly remember that was that day that I realized how much of a difference it is in skill level between people. Mind you, he barely sniffed the NBA. At that time, I had dreams of at least D1 ball and while Martin was decent at Purdue, he was straight up NBA Streeting nikkas there. A nikka such as young iceberg had to take a step back after that one and put shyt in perspective.

There's a subdivision outside of Atlanta in East Roswell that has a small community center....On any given Saturday morning you can run with several pros for free if you just act like you live there or sneak in the back door ...

Travis Best
Kevin Willis
Brian Oliver
Mark Price
Pig Miller
All 4 Barry bros

Drew Barry is the most impressive of all the brothers in person...Crazy how he never stuck in the league..Kevin Willis is super cool and still in NBA shape.. Everytime I go back and visit my parents I try to make it out there...

I saw someone do something like that in Chicago, just straight came into the game late as fukk and his team was down heavily. Brought the team back by himself. My nikkas, he hit the last shot from the half court line. Turned around as soon as it left his hand and started singing I Believe I Can Fly. Yo, if that shyt isn't a Nike commercial, I don't know what is.

Why can they hit every shot on amateurs but freeze up when they are wide open in NBA games? I have never understood this. :wtf:

The obvious answer is that its the pressure of the moment.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
I've played with a few, but the most surprising was a kid named Markus Austin that went to a Mac school, he got interest offers from Big East schools but had already decided to go to Eastern Michigan. I was up in White plains waiting on my Ex to get out of class and had a few hours to burn so I went to the Y nearby to workout and they had a pretty active court so I decided to get some runs in. I played and me and some random dudes were holding down the court, then this 6'6-6'8" dude strolls in and says he got next and everybody there was like "ahhhh fukk" but since I had no idea who he was at the time I thought nothing of it. He comes back with his little brother who was like 6'5 (Later played for Manhattan) and some other skinny kid that was around 6'4" as well.

At the time I was around 220lbs (6'2") and he was maybe 210lbs, so I elected to guard him since I thought he was going to start posting up....NOPE. The game starts and his brother brings the ball up, and this nikka starts running me off screens like he was Rip Hamilton, catch, shoot....splash. Ok, lucky shot right? come down the next time gets me on the wing and iso's, jab step, jab step, 18 footer...splash. So the next time down I decide to try and play him closer, runs off another screen....catches, pump fakes, jab step, dribble into stepback....19 footer...splash. I was getting WORKED, I got a hand up and it was still the same, SPLASH, he had a weak dribble and I played his right hand so he just ran me off screens all game long. Brehs I'm not even sure any of his shots hit the fukking rim, everything was a crisp net burner. He couldn't take me off the dribble or post me up but he just kept shooting over the top of me and his mid-range jumper was absolutely automatic.

I played against a few other players D1 and some eventual NBA players, but that was the most helpless I ever felt trying to guard anyone. I was really athletic and strong and while I struggled to get my offense off against D1 players I could at least hold my own on defense, not against this dude. He didn't even look interested or engaged, everything was just net with little effort put into it :to:

Cause it's a lot different having you or I run at them vs some dude with a 37" vert that's 6'9" with a 7'3" wingspan and a 9'1" standing reach :banderas:
