To the best of my knowledge, the Moors were invited into Spain to overthrow the Germanic barbarians who were ruling it at the time, in exchange for monetary consideration. The Spaniard prince had a prepubescent daughter, or niece whom was being raped by a Visgothic barbarian. The Spanish prince reneged on his promise, and the Moors decided to take control of the Iberian penisula as their payment. The story may be apocryphal, or not. But while the Moors controlled the penisulia, they didn't interfere with the religious practises of the Christian, and Jewish populations. It was a era when people, Muslim, Catholic, Jewish, all would convert, or revert to a different faith or the other. What people don't like to talk about is the reconquest of the penisuli, where King Ferdinand, and Queen Isabela told the Muslims and Jews to either covert to Catholicasim, be killed, or leave the region
Heres a picture of some of the Moors.
