Corporate boardrooms are some of the most racist places in America. Even the most well-educated blacks, Latinos and Asians are shutout of corporate boardrooms. And these Ivy League educated cacs from wealthy families descended from old money are looking to make money off of a negative image of an ignorant hood nikka rapper.
Major labels get most of the money raked in by an artist. It's no different than working for $9 an hour when you help the company make $1000 an hour. These cacs don't look at lil Bobby from Flatbush as a human. You know they were hella scared when he started jumping on the damn table. They live in scrutinized suburban and gentrified neighborhoods with minimal crime. They didn't grow up in the hood.
The late great Guru from Gang Starr said it best on "Credit is Due" when he said, "Most of the people signing acts, they ain't from the street cause yo they come from the sweet soft section of town while they be sweatin and pretendin that they know a real rap sound".
This is why I'm glad to be from Northern Cali where the vast majority of our music is independent.
No racist cacs eating off our plate.
