If this isn't just for current comics, than Milestone was founded and owned by 5 black artists/writers before being bought by DC comics. (Thats how DC got Static Shock).

Duane McDuffy (one of the founders) is also responsible for the strong black portrayals of characters like Green Lantern and Static Shock on the Justice League cartoon even taking longrunning c00n characters like Vixen and remaking her into a strong black female on the Justice League cartoon.

After he passed away DC turned her back into a bedwench almost immediately.
