Who owns the lore? If Random House can commission these novels I guess they must be canon

These books are really based on the movie universe though, which itself is different from the OG novel (no Vincenzo, for example).

There's apparently a big debate with fans over whether or not some things are considered canon. One being that book due to the fact that it was not authorized by Paramount Pictures.
