janet's run is very underrated. people forget and have forgotten just how popular janet was

janet's first 2 albums (control and rhythm nation) alone are better than a lot of female artist's catalog of any genre

however, as far female artists' 4 album run in the 90's one could make a strong argument for mariah because she put in work startin' in 1990

overall quality, the videos, the singles, the message in the songs, the culutral impact, no one was fukking with Janet. Those 4 don't beat out Janet, not by a long shot

bruh, for as great as janet was, there's no denyin' how great mariah was in the early to mid 90's either.

all of those mariah albums i listed all were great too. it won't like mariah was some fluke or overrated artist. vocally, she was right behind whitney. she kept hit singles, great album cuts and performances comin'. so like i said, one could make a very strong argument for mariah

with that said both are icons who were great artists in their primes
this is why i miss those eras because back then it wasn't as easy to pinpoint who was better because the competition was so tight

We all know she got those surgeries in the 90s but I was just spinning thru her old videos from the 80s. Part of what made Janet so sexy to me is she was packing major body while dressing in that androgynous and tomboy style. I got a weakness for fine ass women who "cover up" but you can tell they packing hella body...

In the 80s it's definitely fair to say Whitney was competition. And obviously so was Madonna, no one else was playing in Janet's class though...and personally I prefer Janet over Whitney, she was just a much more resounding performer, but its absolutely fair to say Whitney was in the same class...

In the 90s Mariah entered that competitive field with her...
