They were learned and powerful before WWII breh. From banking (Rothschilds) to philosophy (Spinoza, Karl Popper etc) to political theory (Marx) to psychology (Adler, Freud). This is definitely a good look at it.
Part of the reason they're so insular is hilariously enough due to the attitudes expressed on this board, mistrust and suspicion that can transform very easily into malice and personal attacks.
I work with the Jewish community nearby, and they are constantly on the look out for outside groups encroaching.
