He's wrong

But people praising an album because it has no features is the problem

it's refreshing at times.

shows the strength of the artist when they can make a critical and commercial success without being reliant on features.

but that j. cole shyt was annoying considering a lot of big artists tapes aren't full of features. matters how you use 'em.

French is just trash overall. who cares what he has to say about music? he's basically a featured artist on his own songs.

I'm specifically speaking of Jcole btw

Plenty of artist have had successful and well received projects with no features in recent years (Bryson Tiller, Uzi, future, etc)

The problem I'm speaking about is when an artist sells his project using this gimmick and fans make it is seem like it's a feat that can only be completed by an artist of that ilk is just stupid

You even get to the point where Jcole next album only has 10 songs and a feature that isn't credited so he can promote the "no features" gimmick

I don't mind French and Jungle Rules is cool but this comment is horrible. And it seems to reflect the fact that he can't make an album mostly by himself. Maybe when he was on the come up with the mixtapes and everything. But he didn't have to say this though. And if he is talking about J. Cole, which he is, I think he should slow his roll and note that J. Cole not only has done an album with no features that got noticed but he also produces so much of his own stuff and works with No I.D. (who laced 4:44).

yeah, that shyt got blown outta proportion. I think cole fans were just happy he finally went platinum. that with his aversion to press and the typical rapper shyt made them champion that shyt a little more.

but I can't recall any features on any of tapes besides the drake song. so I don't really get it.

I just checked and cole ain't really ever have rap features like that besides truly yours 2.

Are you saying French has a better rap career than Fat Joe?
Absolutely not. French has more hits strung together by taking Joe's formula and taking a blitzkrieg approach to match short attention spans.

I said French did it better because French cam literally mold himself to any artist he works with without it feeling forced. Joe never had that

French Montana is Far From Finished
"Who sits there thinking about weird shyt like [going platinum with no features]? :gucci:" he says, incredulous. "Those people who put albums out by themselves are weirdos. Music is about having fun. If I'm chilling with A$AP Rocky, or chilling with Drake or The Weeknd and we record, and then I have to say, 'Look here, bro, I'm thinking about dropping this album just by myself.' Artists would stop fukking with you."

Is the homie French taking shots at Fewtcha tho..?
:gucci:

Future has several projects without features or maybe 1 feature (e.g. DS2) and them shyts bang..

I fukk with French, especially his pre-Excuse My French famous shyt. I must've played that Mac & Cheese mixtape 1,000 times+ but 1 formula for someone doesn't mean all artists have to abide by this formula. C'mon French.

French was actually in my city a few days ago and it was like 9-10pm and I was like 'ok I hustled for the money all day.. should I REALLY go to a French Montana club show that will likely start at.. pff.. 2am? I need to be up in the morning ready to go... hmm'

Now had it been Future, or Jay or Kanye, probably Snoop, Fif or Em.. I would've been like FUKK THAT I'ma be there. So.. maybe I fukk with his mixtape and some of his shyt is definitely dope - but to me he's JUST below that Future level. He hustles and grinds and lives off the rap shyt so of course you gotta salute that.

I think French is a melodic artist and he knows how to stay in the pocket of the beat like a mf'er - but elaborate on the bold part. You're saying you think he's mass-producing music that has hit potential since he gets that 1 month from now some new stuff will pop up and this is why he kicks it with the very people he mentioned. Did he fukk with The Weeknd before the nikka blew up?
