that's a dope setup :salute:how long did it take from start to finish?
I started to buy studio equipment here and there about 10 years ago. I kept upgrading the equipment little by little as I outgrew the quality it could offer.
I bought a house about 5 years ago with the goal in mind to convert the garage into a studio eventually.
About 3 weeks ago we started building it in the garage. I had a few friends help me put up the walls.
I did the rest by myself over 2 weeks. Just working during the day and working on the studio when I got home in the afternoon.
This passed Monday was the first session I had in the studio and it went really well.

I see u got the Alesis joint. I have a set of those monitors as well. The 8 inch joints. I have em paired wit some Yamaha's. Dope set up bro.
Yeah the Alesis keyboard is nice. I was using an M-audio one for the longest but I like the Alesis better.
As far as the monitors go, the KRK's have been great for me. I want to get some avantone mix cubes though to help me get my mixes more consistent across different set ups.

fukkin dope :ohhh:
That a monitor inside the booth? What's it used for?
It's so who ever is in the booth can get a clear shot of what I'm doing in pro tools.
For example, there might me a particular beat that is a little tricky, or the artist just isn't so familiar with, it helps for them to be able to see the beat and where they should come in as opposed to just listening.
It's not necessary but it makes the process more comfortable for the artist and communication a lot more efficient. They could just look out the glass but the viewing angle wouldn't be as comfortable as just looking at a monitor right in front of you.
I also have a box in the booth where the artist can adjust the head phone volume on their own for their convenience.

Yea. I use my Yamaha's for vocal referencing and I use my KRKs for production.

So after years of planning and buying equipment and materials little by little I was finally able to convert my garage into a full recording studio.

I thought a long time about making this thread and didn't want to at first because I don't want to come off as trying to humble brag. I ultimately decided on making the thread in hopes to inspire/motivate people who are trying to make it as well and might have some questions I can help them with.

I know I usually stick to the gaming conversation on here and typically don't take things seriously, but if anyone is interested in music and has any questions I might be able to help with I'd be happy to discuss.

That is so dope bro I'm happy for you I plan to do the same but I do not have a house right now but I at least want to set up my computer for the capabilities to record I just have not had time yet

How's the housing market there?

Currently in Charlottesville...plotting to move to either Richmond suburbs or the coast.

$250k will grab something decent?
Depends how many rooms you need.
$250k for 3 bedrooms in va beach is doable. In Suffolk with $250K you can get something very nice. I don't know about Richmond.
