It's kind of true, but it's not just women who put image above talent, there are plenty of men who defend ghostwriters, who use the "from the hood" argument to defend rappers who can't rap. The fact is causal rap/ casual music fans in general don't care about talent in music

after the early 1990s image became top 2 importance. You had to be at least above average looking or above average sexually attractive to be a star. Especially in R&B, pop and boys band music since the majority of people listening to these genres are women. Rap it doesnt matter if you are conventionally attractive or not since there is a far larger percentage of male fans. But you have to project virility, congruence, credibility and strength. In trap music if you rap softly like Drake you gonna struggle.

Image had always been a huge factor in art and entertainment.

A person will react differently to a song depending on who it’s coming from. Drake and some no name rapper could put out the same track with the same exact vocal inflections but Drake’s shyt would sell more, just the way it is. People feel they have a more intimate connection with Drake because they’ve gotten to know him through media and marketing.

When I heard stuff like '' I relate to her or them so much'', or ''I identify with them'' or ''I like the way they look or she looks'' it was always from a woman.

Women love to dream and get lost in a fantasy, I guess.

yes. men have no use for "pop" bands and bubble gum acts. these only appeal to women and children

i watched a documentary about a band called RUSH here recently

they're known for writing and performing songs that have deep allegorical meanings and almost like listening to novels

I do not find tupac attractive. I just dont see it. Hes not ugly but nit cute or hsndsome either.

But he's reached legend status à la micheal jackson or prince... Say one non praising word and the stans are full force. And male stans are the worst, extra bytchy but being male they think they are above bytchiness. So I rarely offer an opinion on his looks.

Singer's like chris brown have a large female fanbase. But also a large following.of average joes who.genuinely enjoy his music or live vicariously through their idol.

Beyonce is a good singer. Id hardly call her average. But I guess its cool.to downplay her talent so you can claim you are not part of her crazed behive.

I dont know adult females who listen to justin beiber. Hes pretty and thats look that apeals to his core fanbase. Is he still pretty?

It's both. Good looking artists will do better than unattractive artists of the same skill/performance level. But there are women who want to sleep with average to below average men because they are fans of their work.

Taylor swift - i like her look - cant name more than two songs of hers.

Cardi b - indifferent to her look - havent heard a single song of hers if I have i didn't know it was her.

New kids on the block - cant remember what they looked like - a couple catchy songs cant remember any titles.

Nynsc - didnt think any of them were cute - I keep thinking of backstreet boys songs when I try to remeber their music.

1 Direction - cant remeber what they look like - not a fan.

Katy perry - not hot not ugly just very basic but always has a good push up bra - only like hot and cold.

Rihana - great songwriters and she pulls of the songs well - shes a beauty.

If you said acting Id agree. I feel you have to be visually pleasing there. But still.someone has to play the plain or ugly role so all people can act. But in music you need to have passable vocals at least.

There are a lot of attractive musicians who just dont have the "X factor" or thier careers fizzle out quickly.
