Internet was like the wild west, was the social practise to install malware/adware because it "did things" :mjlol:

Certain things were definitely better in the past though. Like YouTube. It's gone totally commercialised now, sitting through ads at the start of every video :scusthov:
download the adblock plus extension and it gets rid of all youtube ads.

In the Silver Lining
I'm talking about the 90s/very early 00s before Youtube, Social Media, Y2K, Yahoo & most importantly, before all the fakkits/idiots hopped on the bandwagon.

That had to be the GOAT era for us baby nerds. :to:

I remember looking up rap lyrics so I could print them out. I remember researching "Afro-Latino", and looking up all the Latin American countries. I remember there was this site called ICQ, a chat site, and talking to folks from around the world, when I had never left the U.S. before that time..:wow:.

music, piff, faces of death, tv shows, and you never really knew what you downloaded untill you opened it :myman:

:salute: to that era, but it can stay where its at.

:wow: limewire, I remember even early on realizing that it would some day end, so I went on there and just started to download everything rap related, I would just pic a artist, say 2pac and download all his shyt, would spend weeks at a time per artist

The main thing some might not realize is that even half way decent speeds was not available to the average person so 1 song could take you 2 hours.

I never got into downloading movies until later on cause that shyt could take you days for a single movie

:lolbron: porn, porn was literally a blind folded game in the early days, descriptions sometimes didn't match the content, you could easily come across some  movies, that's why I stopped downloading would just let shyt buffer for a bit then stream for a few seconds to see if it was safe

:mjlol: but ya viruses were rampant, I fukked up two Presario desktops, :yeshrug: told my pops computers had expiration dates
