Im on that NC wave..I was "scouting Raleigh/Cary" 2 months ago...alot of nice places for less than I pay in NY.....but the costs seem to be slowing rising ( prolly bc all the northerners are flockin there)
I would stay if I was living near Raleigh, but I'm in Fayetteville. Which is pretty much the worse part of NC.

plenty of affordable apartments in bk and queens. You'll just have to travel a while to manhattan

This. There's plenty of more reasonable housing in NYC if you're not picky of tryna be the closest to Midtown Manhattan or trying to be next door to a bunch of famous bars and clubs.

OP. You can easily look for around that price range in South/Southeast Brooklyn, Eastern Queens, Northern Manhattan(Harlem, The Heights, Inwood), and even the Bronx.

You only 20? :ohhh:

What do you do? :leon:
I been on a leave the last few months because of my pops, but I write boxing articles and creative pieces on the internet, and I work part time at a recording studio here in NYC, as an on call audio engineer. Between both I make enough to live alright, as well as dipping into some money I have saved too.

I'm 37...I am not getting a roommate lol. I found a place in Alexandria for about $1400. It's 713 sq ft.

I live in North Carolina right now. I pay $710 for 756 sq ft apartment.
i paid 1200 for a 2 BR/1B a few years back. 1 block away from the metro station, 3 miles from district line, 1/2 mile off a 495 exit. safe working class neighborhood.

i used to pay 1000/month utilities included for 3 BR, in NC, so i get it. but living in NC sucks so i'll gladly pay a few more a month

People, yall are getting "sticker shocked".. it's not really that bad :pachaha:.

Those prices sound high to yall because of what YOU pay per month, and how much you make at work, down south.. What yall need to realize, though, is that you'd get paid much more in NYC doing the same jobs as you do in the South.

That is how the average NYC resident can pay $1500 per month rent to live in NYC.

They wouldn't be a "king" if they moved down here to live, because the wages wouldn't transfer most likely. Working at Target in NYC you'd probably make about $3 more than working at a Target in the south.

It's all relative.
:rudy:
That same 8.50 hour at H&M in NY is the same 8.50 an hour they make at H&M in virginia, Illinois, Georgia, and Texas.

Don't believe the hype. I know first hand.

If anything that min wage stretches longer down South or in the Midwest.
