On "You Wouldn't Understand" he say's "in vintage Fila like the ghost of Damencio." Anyone familiar with who he's referring to?

The “Domencio” here is Domenico Benson, a Brooklyn street figure who was killed by Wayne Perry, supposedly on the orders of legendary dealer Albert “Alpo” Martinez. He is center in the picture below:

How To Appreciate Rap Music #3 - Is Nas The Best Technical Rapper Ever...By Far?

The Composer's Corner: How To Appreciate Rap Music #3 - Is Nas The Best Technical Rapper Ever...By Far?

And let's remember that Nas has had very little formal musical training (if any at all.) And the fact that he's able to do this makes him an unqualified musical genius, no matter the arena of music (popular, classical, etc.) I've taken multiple years of music theory analysis classes and I'm still grasping to get at some of the things he's doing. (I mean, simple, compound, duple, and triple time signatures? I'm literally speechless...) I think Nas has more than earned his money. And also let's remember that all of this occurs in no more than 16 bars, or about 40 seconds.

my bad on callin ya bruh

Man I wish that Nas "cared" about being mainstream and what not cause he could use Summer on Smash and/or You Wouldn't Understand as singles and carry this album until late in the year.

bye baby is one of the most popular/universal songs on the album. i know females who dont fukk with nas like that who love the song and love the album.so that goes against your "being mainstream" talk.

summer on smash would have had to drop in june..summers over in a month! & you wouldnt understand is not a single in 2012.

Everyone knows traditional singles in hip hop are street single(not an official single)/club single/heartfelt single/deep single/uptempo single.

more than likely the last single will be cherry wine or the mary j joint which i can live with.

Just read an interview with Blue & Exile on HipHop DX, Nas name brought up a few times in the piece but this bit gave me joke. Re: Life is Good:

DX: Blu, what still surprises you about Hip Hop?

Blu: That Nas is still the illest, bro. That shyt is mad surprising. After all these years; after Rick Ross, Drake, Jay Electronica, all these nikkas - that [Life Is Good] came out and he's still the illest. That's the most surprising shyt ever.

DX: Word up. Are you guys going to get into the studio together? Have you guys been talking?

Blu: Hell nah. I seen that nikka in the club and he didn't even want to see me and shyt. I was like, "Nas, I'll eat you up right now." He was like, "Dude..." Talked to his security. Escorted me out of the area and shyt.

DX: [Laughs] Are you serious?

Blu: Yeah! I was like, "Nas, I'll eat you up right now. Let's get in the studio." He was like [to security], "Get this dude out of here." So, I'm gonna work on how I approach him next time. [Laughs]

:laff: what a story Blu.

Nas always getting into awkward situations in clubs.

You got Grace Jones licking drinks off his arms.
Snipes calling him a scientist and wanting to slap box with the Gawd
Nore throwing a flowerpot at him.

:laff: What else did I miss?

Nas: ayo but on the real, Beneath The Heavens is a classic :ahh:
