It's been a while since we've heard about Zombieland 2, but Sony Pictures is moving forward with the sequel.

SONY PICTURES HIRES WRITER FOR ZOMBIELAND 2

Ruben Fleischer back to direct.

1 OCT 2014 BY RACHEL HAAS

After five long years, Zombieland may finally be getting a sequel.

Deadline reports that Sony Pictures has recruited Dave Callaham to write the script for Zombieland 2 under Ruben Fleischer, who will return to direct.

It remains to be seen if any of the original cast of Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, or Bill Murray will reprise their roles. Eisenberg and Harrelson previously expressed interest in a sequel, but that was back in 2009.

Amazon attempted to turn Zombieland into a TV series, but it never went past the pilot stage. (Watch a clip from it below.)

Callaham has writing credits on Doom, all three Expendables film, as well as the latest Godzilla remake.

Zombieland was a surprise hit, grossing $100 million worldwide. Amazon was then poised to produce a Zombieland TV series, but dropped it after the pilot received unfavorable reviews.

Pretty shytty screenwriter they hired, since the guys who wrote the original zombieland are working on the deadpool movie. The thing that made zombieland work was its humor...not gonna be able to replicate it from a guy who wrote expendables and godzilla
