terrible luck. my external hard drive bricked a few days ago, then my main hard drive (and a lot of other components) failed shortly after...so basically all my shyt is gone. i can't access anything, nothing can be salvaged. all my projects/sessions, kits, samples, plugins, etc...all down the drain. even all the good sites i had bookmarked for vsts and such are gone.

so, i've gotta start alllllllllllllllllll over. literally from zero. fukk my life.

on the bright side, the new computer i've built is 10x better than the one that bit the dust but still...man, i don't even know where to start.:fukkmylife:

Don't Believe the Hype
The great external hard drive crash of 2010.:sadcam:

Most producers need to go through this to learn valuable lesson: have at least two backups of everything. It sounds like you did have several backup mechanisms in place; however, even that fell through. Perhaps consider, for next time, utilizing some sort of cloud-based storage (e.g. dropbox) as a contingency or emergency backup strategy.

That said, I am terribly sorry for your loss. I've been there and I know it sucks. Furthermore, you happen to be one of the good Brehs from back in the day. Perhaps you can use this opportunity to create a whole new sound and library.

Best of luck, my G.

I know your pain... I haven't lost a whole hard drive but I've lost lots of songs/beats. Live and Learn... homey.

What programs were you using to make beats?

What were your favorite vst's that you lost?

I feel your pain man, Back in 2010 I lost 2300 beats, Samples Drum kits you name it it was gone. Just a few months ago I lost another 500 beats that was on a 2nd computer I never use so That 2nd one didn't hurt as much but the first one made me ask...Why!??? made me wonder if I was ever going to get everything back the way I had it. I never did get everything back the way I had it but I built up a better library now.

I own 1 backup drive like 800 gigs and 1 Tera-bite drive now. But I don't stop there I also own Nova backup

If I have to chose 1 I say go with Nova backup $49.95 and never worry about your files again.

Is there a heaven for a hard drive :sadbron::mjcry:

You can usually retrieve stuff off those hard drives though man, the same thing happened to me and I was heartbroken but I kept the old drive and plugged it into my new computer and used a program (forget the name) which managed to retrieve all my shyt. What happened to your old hard drive? Did it just die or was it a virus?

i just lost a handful of stuff a couple weeks ago when i got my computer fixed...not much but important. i did back my stuff up but not completely. thats why i hate apps that install all these different places on your hard drive.

Isn't there some type of recovery that can be done?

If had any serious sessions I'd probably invest in cloud storage and have a back up drive for sounds
