I can't font: I haven't bought a comic book in a long time. Several years at least. I do have two long boxes full of 90s shyt tho. I stay up on current storylines via websites. I'm a fanatic about the movies and TV shows live and animated. I would consider myself a head.

I never considered SHIELD to be anything major. I read mostly XMen, Hulk, SpiderMan, Ghost Rider, Silver Surfer, Punisher.. I just realized I am a Marvel fanboy. Nick Fury was as interesting to me as Peter Parker's Principal. In fact, all the main MCU Avengers weren't shyt to me save Banner.

Needless to say: Marvel has made me a believer in Cap, Thor, Widow, IM of course, Hawkey is aiight. Fukcin Falcon was lower than Aquaman before his recent push - animated as well as CA:TWS -but he seems live as shyt to me now.

Having watched the first half a dozen episodes on broadcast, I started over and am 1.25 eps in to bingeing Agents of SHIELD. I am really chewing on the idea of this whole MCU being some kind of X Files and SHIELD being Mulder and Scully. I don't hate it. Just remembering the weight that shyt held during my era of collecting I feel kinda like I did when I realized Lil Wayne had become rap Superman and the kid from TV was his rap Batman. I guess you have to throw in the failed boy body underground rapper cum Lil Lil Kim as their Wonder Woman in this Trinity. The aforementioned rappers have proven to be acceptable pop icons. So I am wondering if SHIELD is worthy to be out in the front of this Marvel wave.

i was watching the avengers on FX yesterday and its crazy watching it in hindsight. you could tell Disney went all in with the Avengers movie and if it would've flopped then it would've just been bushes status. everyone had a cheap multi movie deal so the rest of the flicks probably would look like straight to dvd budgets and january releases. even Whedon said the Thanos after credit scene was just a tease to show how far the MCU can go if its successful. thats why homie aint in avengers 2, the studios didnt expect it to get that far lol

Uhhh....nah man. The Infinity Gauntlet was in Marvel's movie exhibition at the San Diego Comic-Con 2 years before "The Avengers" came out:

And it was in "Thor", which came out a full year before "The Avengers". They knew exactly what they were doing.

And there was virtually no chance of "The Avengers" flopping, even the less successful MCU movies were doing close to half a billie before it came out. Not saying it's impossible, but I have no idea the set of circumstances that would have to exist for that movie to flop.

I don't know. I grew up liking Nick Fury a lot. there was always an air of mystery about him and you never knew if you're dealing with fury or a life model decoy at any time. But I'm not going to pretend to give a fukk about these new jack shield members. I never cared about anybody in that crew besides maybe dum dum duggin and I'm not going to now.

My bad with the word flop i meant i dont think they knew it was going to be as big. Locking up actors into small multi movie contracts n shyt. Evans and hemsworth had crack head contracts til RDJ bossed up for the crew after them avengers numbers came in.

I think if it did numbers on par with the phase 1 flicks they wouldve just stuck to the main cast instead of us getting guardians, ant man etc

As far as the bold, no doubt. I think as long as they're making money they'll continue to expand the universe.

The reason the contracts are so small is because Marvel CEO Issac Perlmutter is a notorious cheap skate. Dude is a billionaire and he's been known to check trash cans to make sure nobody threw away paper clips. Son is a nut job.

And yeah RDJ had to regulate, which is hilarious because he's basically :umad: towards Perlmutter in every interview.

They keep the budget tight on the first flick for each franchise. Then they shell out on the sequel according to public reception.

I wouldn't call it the spine, i look at it as another corner of the MCU. I see it expanding into how SHIELD used to be after avengers 2 though. Stark might become director of shield.

I really wish shield was used as an MCU xfiles but it's not, they don't even use the show to give obscure characters shine. By in large it's just a waste of time
