Capcom's Yoshinori Ono left a potentially interesting Tweet regarding the future of the Street Fighter Alpha series, noting that he'd like to do something with the long dormant franchise.
CSLFiero: Here's to hoping a console release of Alpha 3 Max with Darkstalkers Resurrection.
Yoshinori Ono: I have interest in making something for [Alpha] series. ;D
Things get a bit more compelling when you look at some past statements from Capcom, including an old interview with David Sirlin, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix's lead designer, where he talked about the origins of the project. Sirlin mentions that he pushed to redo SSF2T at the time, as it was the title he knew best, but Capcom really wanted to go with Street Fighter Alpha 3.
VideoGamer.com: So why did Capcom want to do Street Fighter Alpha 3?
Sirlin: They just really liked Alpha 3! It has all these different versions, and it's been ported to PSP, and Anniversary Collection, every time they add some new features to it and add some new characters to it. I don't know, I guess they think it sells well.

The Street Fighter Alpha series recently surfaced as a question in the Capcom survey, asking users if they were interested in a rehash of this product.
Also, on Capcom's platinum titles listing, which talks about their best selling titles ever Street Fighter Alpha 3 still holds the 56th spot with over a million sold on the PlayStation platform, and this is without counting the other titles in this series or other platforms they were was released on.
This could all be much ado about nothing, as Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix was released back in late 2008, and since that time there hasn't been much in regards to the Alpha series discussed publicly, sans a re-release of the old ports for the PlayStation Portable.
Still, Ono has a solid history of getting what he wants. He notoriously pushed for Street Fighter 4 to get created in the first place, but in more recent memory, he went in hard trying to update Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition to v2012 (which happened) and has put together many campaigns to get a new Darkstalkers game created (which happened via the Darkstalkers Resurrection re-release).
Plus, this isn't the first time he's mentioned wanting to touch on the Street Fighter Alpha franchise again.
There's an awful lot of piecing together old quotes and the company's past leanings going on here, and this could all add up to a lot of nothing, but there seems to be some smoke in the air. With past history in mind, if Ono keeps talking this up on Twitter, we might be in for a Street Fighter Alpha series re-release.
this man bet not touch my beloved Alpha 2,
