A comment from a Yoruba man:
I want this “handshake” to be the start of a new beginning in the South. Hardly any Yoruba man without an Igbo friend. In the last few years, a lot of insults, ethnic slurs (and what have you) have been spewed by both parties. Chinua Achebe’s “there was a country” didn’t help the matter. I’m aware of the deep sadness the Igbos felt with our (Yoruba) role during the civil war. Although, history has shown that our hands were forced, still, when one loses so much as the Igbos did, it’s only natural to feel disdain towards the perpetrators, most importantly, the one you considered a friend. “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends” MLK
I deeply apologise for the past, with the hope that we can start all over again. I want Ooni of Ife to convey this message to the Obi of Onitsha : We are sorry for your loss during the war and we hope to make it up to you someday. Daalu

God bless you bro.Happy new year comrade! As an Anambarian I was born in Yoruba land.
I was fed with Yoruba resources.
I attended Yoruba school and have Yoruba friends. My father was a mere teacher and a farmer which farmland was given to him for 15years free of charge by a Yoruba friend.
In fact Yorubas are the most accommodating black race of people on earth. I was pissed off when I heard this BIAFRA nonsense of a thing. So I and other notable Igbo elites world wide decided to set up this group. This Handshake is my happiest moment in my life. The whole southerns are blood brothers and sisters. Nothing must divide us irrespective of our differences.
