A federal grand jury indicted two men on multiple charges in connection to an alleged plot to attack the Democratic Party's headquarters in Sacramento.

Ian Rogers, 45, and Jarrod Copeland, 37, allegedly planned to use pipe bombs and firearms to attack the Democratic office following the 2020 election, the Department of Justice announced Friday. They also reached out to an anti-government militia group to support their mission.

The two men were charged with conspiracy to destroy by fire or explosive a building used or in affecting interstate commerce, while Rogers faces additional weapons charges, and Copeland faces an additional charge for destruction of evidence.

If convicted, they each face a maximum statutory sentence of 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine, while Rogers faces an additional 10 years in prison for the gun charge. Copeland is looking at a possible 20 extra years in prison for the destruction of evidence charge.

Copeland and Rogers used various messaging apps to communicate from November 2020 to January 2021 as they planned, during which time they understood their actions would be viewed as domestic terror attacks, according to the DOJ.

This is getting too frequent. Somebody is going to slip through the cracks...
The biggest problem with white supremacist extremism is that new militias are formed every day. It’s hard for the Feds to keep up. A lot of times existing militias break up and form new ones or form new alliances. What complicates things is the relationship these militias have local law enforcement. I’ve always said that the ones that get arrested by the Feds are the ones very blatant with their language or actively planned something. The majority of the militias use careful lingo like “protect the constitution,” or some other crap that keeps them under the radar. That’s what Oathkeeper had done since now. They want to have violent insurgency but are careful with their language. This is why it’s comfortable for military veterans and law enforcement joins these groups. Right wing extremism is a cancer that has growing in American society since the 1950s. I’ve always said that like a cancer it soon grow out of control to kill the patient. These militias are the biggest threat to internal stability if nothing drastic happens.

Part of the issue is the "Patriot" movement used to ebb and flow with who was in office. Right wing extremism shot up under Clinton and then we got OK City attack. The count of militias and other right wing groups really did drop during GWB. Mainstream GOP didn't need them as a problem when they had the levers of power.

The problem now is we have an ex-president and normalized wing of the GOP that keep fanning the flames. With a normal GOP president, these guys would be bushed and the rhetoric toned down as it was no longer useful. Trump just amped them up and now they are itching for battle and thinking power is on their side. This has never happened before.

At this point, the United Nations needs to step in. We need European Troops on American soil, and remove these Nazi-inspired traitors.

There are a lot of Nazi cells in various European militaries as well. Its a global threat at this point. Luckily they are outnumbered but all it takes is a few thousand Nazi symapthizers in the military to destabilize an entire country.
