I can help you with your vocal mix.
Do you put anything on your Master Bus when you mix?
I want to learn how to mix myself though
Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you compressed + turned up + EQ'd the vocals, and did some more stereo separation on that background sample..... am I off
Give me some starting points.....
Here is something I recorded a few years ago. I was flowing But that mix It sounds like I'm rapping while coming in and out of the room
*EDIT* I used to make beats so I know my way around production software.... just let me know some tips. I am not doing this for $$$ so I don't really want to pay for someone to mix my shyt
Yes....I have a limiter on the master and a mastering tool called Izotope ozone 5. Those are the only vst on the master bus.
But. in the case of the song in my example...The beat is already mixed and mastered with the limiter and Ozone 5...Exported then mixed with a Vocal mixing software called Izotope Izone 5.
Thanks man... this sounds like what I do, I need to work on my compressor skills
Your vocals need a low pass filter eq to clean up the unwanted and useless lower frequencies, compression, so that the low volume segments of the recording are normalized with the higher volume parts of the recording, a de-esser to clean out the s syllables, and a little reverb for some spacing. All of these typically come in separate plugins but, I use a vocal suite called Izotope Nectar 2, which covers all of these in one so the work is done for you. And I don't charge to mix tracks but, If I can I'll try to plug in a link for Izotope.
